Can anyone give me the skinny on the leather top bear bow quiver that has a "Black" anodized aluminum hood with no patent number, instead of the customary Brown anodized aluminum. The Bear logo is brown instead of the customary cream color?

Bob, I have one of these but I don't have the lowdown on numbers produced or other details. I'm also not absolutely sure it's black but it is very very dark and may indeed be true black. The logo is very definately pretty dark brown. I'll check it out when I get home this evening and let you know what I find. I'm pretty sure I still have it but you how how that can be sometimes, lol. Bob these quivers appeared for the first time in the 1957 catalog from what I have seen. The first ones were w/o patent numbers and one of the models were very dark colored. My catalog shows that as the tape on model; but who knows how tightly that was adhered to-if at all(oh! pardon that pun!). The logos were a bit more spartan on the early ones too.
Hope that helps.

I believe the dark ones were between the scabbard quiver and the introduction of the Bear Razorhead in 1956. Mine and bowdoc's doesn't have the slot in the back for the bleeder blade to reside in.

Dang, Doc, you're fast!

I just happen to have quiver and camera at hand.Ron does your quiver have the green army type tape between the front and back pieces of metal ? bd

Ron & Don:
This one doesn't have the bleeder slot also, its brand spanking new doesn't look like there was ever an arrow placed in it. Don: yes the hood is the same. The guy I got this from also has another without the logo that I could get also. One's a righty, mine's a lefty. Don is the bottom part that attaches to the bow brown or black? This one is brown.

No Slot Leathercaps
LH w Logo... RH no Logo
Ron Brunges is correct, made between the scabbard and introduction of the Bear Razorhead, which required the Leathercap to have a Slot for the 4th arrow with insert.
Ron, Actually this would be the correct quiver for you to use with your 1955 Pinned Bear Razorheads... The 2-Blade ones of course...
