With spring gobbler season coming soon, I've been trying to find a "go to" short bow for a ground blind.
Top to bottom:
'64 Kmag 52"@50#
Colt huntmaster 52"@42#
Browning Nomad stalker 1 52"@45#
Shakespeare super Necedah x-30 54"@50#

They all group well at 15-20 yards, with the x-30 hitting hardest. Not surprising I guess, with a bit longer limbs. The Colt is no slouch, almost the same penetration at 42lbs. I like the Kmag grip best though. Decisions decisions!
Couple questions, can you guys help me date the bottom three? Also what do you think of the natural fur string silencers, do they catch on brush? Always used rubber catwhiskers.
Thanks Brad

I think you should get three more so you will have one for every day of the week. I would take a different one each day and see which one brings you the most luck. Good luck..Henry

Nice collection of shorties!
My only shorty is my grandfather's old 54" 'curve. bought in '68 or '69 and it never had silkscreens. Needs to be refinished.

I don't have a problem with the fur silencers catching on brush.

Got the same problem:
the 52" Red Wing Hunter 50@28, or the Golden Hawk Magnum 48" 51@28?
Aluminum or wood? Aluminum is more consistent, wood is quieter.

I'm a sucker for the early 60's K-Mag. If you like the grip best then that's probably what you'll shoot best. I'll be carrying my '64 53#@28 for spring gobbler. Good luck, Paul

Three more,hmmm.. I like the looks of Rich's Diablo coming up...
Jeremy, our serial numbers are fairly close, I figured them all around late 60's.
After some more practice, I'm grouping the Kmag and Colt best.

I'm shooting a Bob Lee Dark Archer-54" 50#. I really like it, doesn't even feel like a short bow. Much better than the Kodiak Mag. Probably the reason I like the Lee so much is that is feels very close the Wing Thunderbirds, with the grip and phenolic riser.

Thats one I haven't heard of. Going to a shoot in Jacksonville next month, will see if anyone has one I can try.

Just added Traps '61 Kmag @45#
He did an awsome refinish, beautiful walnut, and he brought out the purpleheart in the sight window nicely. Good contrast, pics dont do it justice. I am shooting it now and its a tack driver with heavy arrows!
Thanks Trap, and Bowdoc for showing us how!
