Looks like an older Howatt Hunter.  Nice bow.  The overlays on the bottom rear of the grip are very Howatt like as well as the wood pattern and sculpture.  It's been refinished so the decals went.

To be honest I'm not sure either.  I just guessed.  I'm pretty sure it's a Howatt though.

yea trap nice chuck. I really like the claw/horn curves in the glass by the fades on the back. If i wasnt closing on a house tommorrow(pregnant wife thinks she needs space:knothead:) and still trying to sell our current one I could have had a higher max bid. but to have the top bid until the last second and this guy who hadnt bid swoop in and take it kinda pissed me off   :banghead:

Doc, I am still verrrrry new to this, what makes you think Browning? I havent seen many (none in person) old Brownings.
thanks guys just venting.

Just my two cents worth. Riser looks Howatt all the way but the white glass overlay on the belly side looks like some Browning bows I have had as well as the American X48 by American Archery.

Doc – Here is a Browning with a similar stripe in the riser but different shape and different overlays. It is an Explorer I, 60”, 4068-1, 40#, AMO 56”. Have no idea as to the year, 70s-80s? This is pretty plane jane compared to the bow in the auction...

Mickey - The riser overlays appear to be all glass.

This Browning is really not the bow that Doc was looking to see posted. He is looking for a much more stylish riser that resembles the bow you got in the auction. One that would have overlays like yours. This one just has a similar stripe in the riser is why I posted it. I don't know anything about Brownings, except I've seen some that aren't as nice looking as this one to my eyes. Likely there are some that look far better.

Hopefully one of the Browning collectors will tell us about the Explorer I.

Wade!!!!!!!!
That is the bow I have been trying to ID for a long time.  Mine is marked DeLuxe composite bows instead of Browning.  Thought it looked like a browning but wasn't sure.  Don said it was a place in Texas that contracted for browning and some others.  Thanks a bunch.  Mine is identical to yours.  Learn something new every day.  Bill

Mickey - Sorry to hear to got sniped. I assure you it was not me, although I am known as an old sniper, that's before eSnipe became known.

Bill - Glad the photographs helped you confirm the identity of your bow. Yes, there is lots to learn, and so little time left on this earth to learn it.

Wade your bow may be a Wing Archery Browning and I believe the one on auction was a Damon Howatt Browning.bd
