Title: Howatt/ Martin longbow
Post by: OkKeith on March 03, 2009, 11:55:00 AM
Hey Guys,

I know nothing about collecting bows and even less about buying something from the auction site.

I was looking for another bow to buy and came accross this one, 220369806961.

Seems like a nice bow and the price seems reasonable. Those of you with more collecting and buying experience, is this a true one of a kind as the description says? Is this gonna go sky high in the last 5 min. of the auction?

I'm not a collector (never even played one on TV, but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express). I am just trying to pick up a good bow with limited funds and be a wise buyer. Looking for some information from folks who know more than I do.

Thanks,
Okkeith

I see the bow is from Walla Walla, WA...which is Martin's headquarters, but all trad bows are made at the plant in Yakima, WA.

"Prototype by Howatt for Martin" is confusing to me since Martin has owned the Howatt plant since 1976.

That being said, the bow does look nice with a good weight and the price to very reasonable (now, anyway).  There's little doubt it will sell for more at closing.

Good luck and hope ya get it cheap.

Thanks Lon,

I didn't know if it may have been a collector's dream or not. I will keep an eye on it. Thanks for the help.
