I just recently picked up this Jeffery.I've never owned one before and was wondering if anybody could put an approximate date on it.Did some research on them but couldn't find a whole lot about them.I got it off a guy that had bought it used around 8-10 years ago.Just curious how long they had been making these.It's a Jeffery Classic 60" 56# serial # looks to be cllb 245.Shoots great very light and quiet.I have never seen one listed or really heard much about them.Any info would be greatly appreciated.Thanks (http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/vv192/DAVE1275/100_3127.jpg)

That is a nice looking bow. I don't know how to date them, but that company has been around for a while making quality products.

Jeffrey makes fine bows. They made most of the bows that Dan Quillian designed and sold through Archery Traditions. In later years Dan also used Martin for some models, but his (in my opinion) best, the Longhunter series and the TD recurves, were made by Jeffrey. I have several of them.

Owen was the master bowyer for Earl Hoyt Jr. untill '66 or '67 when he went to work for Bear Archery in Grayling. I spent a good deal of time with him in the '80s when I lived in Columbia, S.C. Owen was Bear's master bowyer during the refinement of the Takedown design and is also responsible for the subtle changes in the Grizzley that came around in '68. He was/is an enormously talented man Although I haven't spoken with him for several years I do know his son Tom is running the business and at least last year, Owen was still making pretty regular appearences . Owen left Bear to serve as President of Shakespeare archery (that's how he got to So. Carolina) and when Shakespeare elected to eliminate its archery division, Owen bought out the facility. He has made bows for lotsa of folks- back in the eighties a good number of "custom" bows were actually built at Owen's shop on Pepper Street. Good bows designed by a man who understands how bows really work as well as anyone ever.

Very interesting,thanks. I called Jeffery archery they said it was probably made in the mid 90's. I was thinking it was a little older than that.He said they list at 562.00 new. Bow shoots great and at that price I think I got a pretty decent deal on it. Thanks again
