I've met a bunch of archers who will be famous in the future. Right now they are just bowhunters.

One of the highlights of my life was being able to sit down with FRED BEAR in 1988' in LasVegas at the S.H.O.T. show (Worlds largest dealer hunting, archery, gun, ammo show) Fred signed 2 luggage tags for me and he had one of the gals laminate them. Sadly 3 months later FRED passed away.I will cherous that meeting with him the luggage tags as well as the handful of 8x10 photos he sent me prior to his meeting over the years in writing to him.
I have also met Glenn St.Charles (went to breakfast with him & son Joe and I slept right on the floor of P&Y museum) Tom Jennings,Paul Brunner,Roger Rothhaar,John Schultz,ED & Myrtle Miller,Anne Clark,Ted Nugent,M.R.James & had a couple visits at legendary whitetail trackers house LARRY BENOIT and was able to have Frank Scott (Fred Bears former oldest employee & archery historian),Stacy Groscup, Monty Browning,Gene Wensel,Jerry Hill,Doug Walker
& Byron Ferguson as guests at traditional archery event I ran for a dozen years.

I ate dinner a couple times with Tom Phillips around the campfire at Denton. That was before I knew he was famous for hangingout with some really famous people. Now I'll have to ask for his autograph! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

My Uncle has a brother, who has a second cousin whose sister dated a guy who knew a neighbor that met a carnival worker who ran a Tilt-a-whirl at the summer Fair in Grayling back in the 60's that saw Fred Bear eating cotton candy and a corn dog at the same time.... sorry no fart stories here...

My wife sleeps with PAPALAPIN - Does that count?
I saw a live demonstration by Howard hill at the local theatre when I was a KId. It is kind of what planted the seed in me.
I spoke to Fred Bear on the phone in 1967, and met him at the Greyling Museum in 1968. I bough my 1968 Super Kodiak from him.
I have met Charlie Lamb.
My biggest claim to fame is the personal relationship I was honored to have with Jack Howard, although I never met him in person.
I knew Jack Bell personall (LA representative to the NFAA)

I was lucky enough as a young lad of 12 to be able to see the great Howard Hill shoot grandma. He let us hold the bow and try to draw it.
I was also was able to meet Fred Bear at the Dallas Shot Show. What a thrill.
I also met Bill Negley at the PBS convention in San Antonio.
-
I was told that I saw Ted Nugent in concert when I was a senior in High School, I don't really remember the details very well.

I have been fortunate to have met several "biggies" in our sport. Have met, talked to Joe, Glenn and his wife at Cloverdale. My wife "saved", Mrs St Charles, when a wasp landed on her leg and my wife got it off her. Met Jerry Pierce and got to become friends with him.Have met and know Al Reader. Met Jim Daughtery, Judy Kovar and M.R.James. Have visited with Cliff Coe and he signed a bow for me. Met several more big shoys but they don't fitr in here.

I have had the pleasure to met Fred at several of the shotshows along with Brian Ferguson. Having been to Comptons several times over. Lots of the greats, Glen St Charles and his son. Our own Mr La Clair, we still have so many that are great in my eyes. To be met at a Comptons get together. The list could go on and on like the Wensel's. I had the honor of having dinner with Mr Ashby

I also have been lucky to met and share camp's with a lot of other greats. From several Texas sweat hunt's. This past fall Mr Lamb and I spent 3 weeks together. Roaming the mountains around Iron Bulls place. Not sure that counts, except to me. (http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l101/GUNSMITHAMMO/WindRiverRange043.jpg)
Had dinner with this character
(http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l101/GUNSMITHAMMO/Comptons1.jpg)
I have spent a week in camp also with Terry Green and Rob De Stefino. In my eyes they have promoted trad archery more. In our times than anyone other than TJ's impact with TBM.
I am lucky, If I do say so myself!

Had business dealings with Fred Bear in the late 60's a few times over a ground bow holder my friend buitt and sold to Bear Archery and shared a campfire with Hormoan a couple of years ago.
There Hormoan I did forget when I posted....

Geeze Dave ya got to meet me around Grayling, that didn't count :notworthy:

I met Fred Bear when I was 12 in 1982, he signed his book "Archers Bible" for me. It means more to me now than it did then. Frank Scott signed a bow for me in 1997. If you count Ted Nugent, I have also seen him in concert and met him in person. Don Thomas was at our trad archers banquet last year. M.R. James (who is a great guy by the way) about 10 years ago at Anderson Archery. I will get to meet Mike Mitten again this weekend at our banquet.
I also know a few guys that worked at Bear Archery in the 70's, they have some interesting stories about the factory and the goings on in that time. Its funny to hear what they say about Fred. To them it was just "Fred", he was a fixture in Grayling and a normal citizen like everyone else.
