One of the first-ish-ie were those aluminum riser aluminum limbed 3 pcs Ivanhoe T/D's.I'am not saying those were the first but they were pretty early...bd

Brian - The Tru-Temper 3-piece recurve, cork over metal riser with steel limbs, I believe if I remember correctly, dates back in the 1920s.

BowDoc is right in the ball park for the alum T/D,  alum riser, alum limb, 3-piece recurve T/D bows. In the late 1940s some others that I have are Grimes and Par-X. From the same era, Seefab and Apollo were 2-piece T/D recurves. The Ivanhoe I have is one piece of alum, with a wooden handle and is not a T/D. Another alum T/D recurve from the era was Sederquist (not spelled correctly.) It was also 3-piece if I remember correctly.

Hi Wade

Many thanks for that info. I'll try and scrape up some photos of some of these bows for a little project I'm working on  :)
