It's a bolt on Daryl. It has 3 grippers on one side and one on the other.

Here's one I mounted on a Holcomb 59 Replica. I used a quiver bushing and epoxied it in.  If you can find an original Bear bushing it might be better.

If you're going to put it on your KMag those little prongs are going to dimple your riser.  You might consider trading it for a tape on.  Either quiver is correct for the period.

If the gripper is dry and stiff, you can buy a replacement from Bob York.

I thought about the dimples in the riser and I'm ok with it. I'm planning on keeping the bow and quiver together.

The grippers are in good shape. The gripper on the back seems to line up with a small slot in the steel. Surely the broadhead doesn't slip into that slot in the steel?

sure does Kenny  I usually keep a squared off razorhead there for shooting squirrels and taking a practice shot.

Finding a Bear bushing and screw shouldnt be too hard.  I know there are guys on here that have them laying around.

I think I may have found an original bushing and screw that came from the 1962 Kodiak I worked on for Blackhawks friend.I installed a compass where the quiver bushing was and the fellow told me to keep the bushing and screw.So that would make it original as it came from a 1962 and going into a 1962 and they did come with quiver bushings from the factory.I will keep ya posted asap.bowdoc

Kenny would you be so kind as to PM me your addie and I will get it sent off.Looks like monday before we'll be able to get out and make the P.O.run.But I will get it sent out asap.SES would you be able to load a pic of your factory installed 1962 bushing ? The bushing was counter sunk into the riser a bit.The reason was they wanted a flat surface for the shoulder of the bushing to mount againest.They counter sunk the bushing a little.That pic would sure help Kenny with his quest...bowdoc

Its 45 lb wish it was 50 but I can live with it.  Picked it up at a garage sale, that one and a nice old polar for 50 bucks.  Sweet deal.  I will need down the road, both details but it is my winter project. Thanks

Well, I got started tonight. I can see why the fellas that do this for a living are few and far between. Pucker factor is pretty high when drilling into a perfectly good 47 year old Rosewood riser.  :scared:    :scared:

I got all my stuff together;
 (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/4runr/bushing001.jpg)

Then went to work. First I put a piece of tape on said riser as the good Doc ordered;
 (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/4runr/bushing002.jpg)

Marked it;
 (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/4runr/bushing004.jpg)

Then headed for the shop. I'm in the process of cleaning out this hole due to a job change/loss. Now, where is that drill press?

First I needed some shims between layers of an old t-shirt to get the riser layin flat.
 (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/4runr/bushing006.jpg)

Then the countersink hole is drilled.  :scared:

Next I determined the depth of the bushing hole, and marked the drill bit.

 (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/4runr/bushing008.jpg)

I took it slow and double checked my depth a couple of times  :scared:    :scared:    :scared:

I know these aren't as sought after as Rich's nail clippings, but I thought I'd offer some shavings up here before I put them on th****. You can PM me for pricing.
 (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/4runr/bushing009.jpg)

Next I had the inspector general check out my handiwork;
 (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/4runr/bushing011.jpg)

Looks like he came up smiling, musta done alright.

Bowdoc, I sent you an email with some questions. I'm fine with you answering here for others to see.

1. Do I put finish into the hole before installing? Like tru-oil.

2. Do I epoxy the bushing in place?

3. Can I use a thin screwdriver that fits the slots exactly since I don't have the proper square tool?
Title: Re: Close up pics of Bear leather top quiver (installation complete w/ pics)
Post by: d. ward on February 03, 2009, 11:06:00 AM
Yes I would put like maybe just 1-2 coats of finish in the hole.Try and keep it thin so it will not make the hole to tight when installing the bushing.Epoxy yes or no your choice if you use epoxy you may never get the bushing out but epoxy is good if your never going to remove the bushing.Flat blades do not work to well the bushing may get a little tight right at the last bit of tighting and the flat blades like to slip and strip the threads.You can buy a cheap screw driver with 1/4" square shank and grind the blade off it will fit right inside the bushing..bd

Title: Re: Close up pics of Bear leather top quiver (installation complete w/ pics)

I put one in by using a brass "slotted" bolt of the proper size and just twisting bolt and bushing in together with a good fitting screwdriver

After the epoxy cured the bolt twisted right out.  I did put a little string wax on the bolt to make sure I didnt get any epoxy in the threads.

I had an extra one of those wrenches used to get the disposal freed up when your kid jambs it up for you, but it was shaped wrong.
   (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/4runr/SA400026.jpg)

After a few minutes on the sander she shaped up just fine.
   (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/4runr/SA400030.jpg)

Got her started straight.
   (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/4runr/SA400031.jpg)

The screw in place.
   (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/4runr/SA400034.jpg)

Now she's ready for bunnies.
   (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f143/4runr/SA400035.jpg)

While I was at it I made a new strike plate and added the feather rest I got from Daryl a while back.

Keep a eye on the bay, depending on condition and bidders, $25-$50 mint more. not a bad value considering the price of new ones. And ya get a collectible   :thumbsup:

And that is nice Kenny, you did a great job on that bow!!!
