I have a sudden overwhelming desire for a Bear takedown. Which model is the holy grail? I see a Gainsville on that site for nearly $800. What about the Supreme for say $1100? will it perform with any of the Grayling bows?

The real premo would be the gold latch Fred Bear signture take down they range from oh say 2,500.00 to 5,000.00.The second is the 1970 A or B which ever you like around 1,000.00 or so.Bit more with limbs.Next would be the Supreme I guess,I've not shoot it but price wise you can see it in the 3r's catalog I think 1,299.99.Next would be the Gainville of which I do have one of those. They shoot real good for me.I did customize the grip a bit.But the green stripe riser and a set of limbs is more like 500.00 pending on the limb weight.I do have a B mag and A mags which I also shoot pretty often. They seem to shoot OK for me...bowdoc

I gave $1,200.00 for my pristin '70 B riser with 43# Whte limbs with black tips. This about 8 yrs ago. This would just about fall in line with Docs pricing on a '70 B riser. Now that was a while back when the market was higher. Although the market is soft right now, don't look forthase really collectibles to go cheap.
I have two Green Strip Gainesvill risers. One came with gold latches, and liek a fool I sent it to bear and had the latches changed to black.

I have a Style I-late '69-early '70 B riser that I've put so much in over the years I'm ashamed to tally it up. I have several sets of limbs from different periods but the ones I use on that bow are the first model white tips, 66#@28" on the B riser. I got the limbs right but paid high for that riser. I own a Style II B riser that I bought around '79 or '80 for under $300.00. I also have a couple Mag risers and a "one-off" Owen Jeffery built for me in '88. Bowdoc knows most of my bows well, lol. The StyleI is my main hunting bow and shooter. I would sell a kidney before I sold that bow. Grant
