Yall done gave me the itch REAL bad to give bow building a try. Im completely green to it, so im thinking that a kit bow would be a good place to start. How much does an average kit for a one piece recurve from bingham run? Does the riser block included allow you to custom cut the shape of the riser to your own design?

You are going to enjoy Binghams kit. It is a good learning experience and they are good shooting bows. You can't go wrong and Elmont will help you with questions and problems if you have any.

But as I know, they do not offer custom cut the riser block.

One piece recurve low end price would be less than $100. Might run you $125 with shipping and glue, etc. Betcha can't just make one! The riser blocks for recurves allow quite a bit of latitude as far as riser shape. They come as blocks, 2"x3 3/4"X22" so there is quite a lot to work with.
kyle, as far as price, you can get eloborate and spend quite a bit to start or keep it basic and cheaper. i'd say $200-$500 or so..
as far as the riser, it is un-cut and you can shape it anyway you want. like hera, i found shaping the riser to be the most fun and rewarding.
beware though...it is very addicting!!
The kit isn't bad, but if you go the airhose form and hotbox route, those materials add up. I made a bow with string and wedge form and cured it in a hot car in the sun (of course it was early summer then) for a lot cheaper. Search for "El Cheapo" to see how to make a bow for about as cheap as it can be done. Bow turned out great, and it just isn't much fun shooting someone elses bow once you'be made your own. 2 deer so far this year!
Kyle; if your ever in central texas you are more than welcome to use my form and my hotbox. I do use the clamp method instead of the hose though. Pm me if you want my phone # and I can answer most of your questions as your going along. I`ve built around 30 bows,but some have broke. I`m far from an expert but the bows look good and shoot good. Three friends and a brother-in-law built their first bows last year and all took deer with them that year. It`s funny but they all think their bow is the best bow they have ever shot.

draco, i appreciate the generous offer and just might consider taking you up on it some time. You will have to pardon my ignorance, but where exactly is georgetown? Im located about 45 minutes east of dallas.
I feel like i have enough wood working skills and experience to handle the shaping and such ( i used to be big into duck hunting and made hand carved decoys), but im all but clueless when it comes to the form and the glue up.
Kyle I see you are looking for some BL limbs why not try to build just limbs for your Lee first to get some practice.Kip
