I found a Grizzly at a 3-D shoot this weekend and picked it up from another tradganger. Both of us think it is a 1958 model, but we're not sure.

Check out those cute little tips!

It's a 62", single shelf, no coin, and 46#. Maybe these pics will show you what nice shape the bow is in, with no holes and hardly any wear.

very nice find I agree with you on the date the 1957 was a double shelf and the 59 had the I Beam construction.
-
I was wondering about the 57 being a double shelf. I believe the '57 Kodiak was a single shelf and this one being a 57 Griz was our second choice.
The leather wrap is in awesome shape with hardly any shelf wear.

Yup, a '58. Don't you just love the tiny tips? :)
That one is in real nice shape!
The '57 Kodiak had a single shelf, the '57 Grizz had the double and no deflex in the riser. I like the way the '58 Grizz shoots better than the '57 Grizz, though I think the '57 is a little faster.

Thanks Jeremy!
Is this what is called "sowbelly"?
I put the brace right at 8" (maybe a little high), but I really liked the way it shot 2114's.

I put a 8" brace and 15 strand string on my 44# 59 grizzly this weekend and it was real smooth and quiet. Probably not breaking any speed records, but the arrows go through the target.
Yours looks like it was waiting for the 2114s and itching to go to work. I know we are supposed to go for the Kodiaks, but those 62" Grizzlys are hard to put down.

I think we are going to have to have a vote in the collecter section men.bowdoc would like to propose a bill that would change Blackhawk's handle to Grizzlyman. What do ya say guy's ? Those 1958 Grizzly's are actually pretty good shooters I think. They have a bit of a straight-ish limb but shoot well and draw smooth...bowdoc

No way Don, there's a reason Fred put the Kodiak at the top of the heap. But a Griz will do until Obama gets in and then we can all afford Kodiaks.
