Title: Shakespeare Ocala

Does anyone have a picture or info on a "Shakespeare Ocala" bow?
Just curious since I am from, and still live, in Ocala, Florida, what did the bow look like, its specs, when it was made and how did it get its name?

Hi John,
I don't have any way to post pictures at this time, but I might get a couple up in a few days. I shoot and hunt with two Ocala's. One earlier bow 62" and pulls 61# @ 28#, light rosewood riser, cinnamon brown glass on limbs and the other is a later model, 60", and pulls 53# at 28". It has forest green limbs and I think a bubinga riser.  Both are the smoothest shooting bows I have owned or shot! I know that the bow's heritage stems from designs made by Ernie Root, therefore I am not suprised by there smoothness or how fast and hard they hit. I bought them very cheap, about $75 for the 62" and $125.00 for the 60". If you can find one in the weight you need, buy it!

The Ocala Model was made from 1966 thru 1973

Hi John: There was one for sale at the TBOF Fall Shoot last weekend (Aug-9) in the Ocala Forest. This bow was donated by a now deceased former member. These were mid-lower priced bows and similar in coloring and shape to the Kaibab pictured by Droptine. I think it did not sell (price was about $115). I can get you an email of the safekeeper of the bow if you are interested.
The Shakespeares were very decent shooters with wide limbs to be forgiving. Regards, Ray

Ray,
Thanks for the heads up. I couldn't make the shoot this past weekend, it was our hunt club's annual director's meeting and I had to be there Saturday and spent Sunday spraying and mowing food plots and getting the camp in order.
Do you know the specs on the Ocala that was available last weekend?

Again, thanks for the letters, wish I had the extra money, just a bad time of year for new toys.
Today was my wife's birthday and I spent a bunch on her new, GASP! compound bow.
That kind of means no new trad bows for me for a while unless I do a little more work, yuck.
