Title: Fred Bear history question
Post by: portugeejn on June 14, 2008, 09:37:00 AM
I have read about the occasional person who is right handed but shoots a left handed bow (because it works better for them).  I have seen this myself some when working with Boy Scouts who have been trained to be right handed, but were left eye dominant.

So the question.  Was Fred Bear left handed, or did he just shoot left handed?  Just curious.

From his autobiography I recall that his sister helped him cut off the outer part of his right ring finger when both were kids. This made a left hand shooter out of a right handed person ...

Fred Bear and Glenn St. Charles both started out as righties and became lefties later. I heard they joined a mysterious cult called 'Los Sinisteros'.

"You ask if I am right- or left-handed. I am left-handed. I don’t quite know why. I shoot a bow left-handed. I throw a ball left-handed. I bat left-handed. I play golf left-handed. But I do everything else right-handed, including the shooting of a gun. And one of the interesting things in this connection is that my right eye is my master eye, although I do shoot a bow with the left hand"

I'm with you Mike, Is there really such thing as shooting without target panic??? I have fought it since day one.

Never have had a problem shooting at game or stump shooting but I loathe shooting at a target.
