I dont know the who's who on here about who shoots heavy poundage bows. But if someone would be interested,1964 Kodiak in 70#.I'm gessing it had to be special order.?Does anyone know at what point in # it would have to go into the special order category?I dont know if this belongs on here or in the classifieds or how picky the moderators are.Any help appreciated.

30-70# was what Bear offered in the 1964 catalog.I bet if a guy could pull that one to 28 she'd be smoken fast....But a little to heavy for the old bowdoc........

You are in the right place.  Got to be worth at least $20.00.  How much you asking for it?  Assuming you want to sell.

Tony

What do you call hunting weight.

I have 40, 45, and 55#.  Just can't seem to nail that elusive 50#r at an affordable price.

Just in case you haven't figured it out, I was kidding about the $20.00.

I would like to know the condition and the asking price if you are selling.

Dan emailed these pics to me ...

... and then twisted up a beautiful 20 strand string, wrapped this in a fleece blanket, and sent it to my door.

The bow arrived an hour ago - and everything I heard about 1964 Kodiaks is true. It pulls smoothly and shoots like a rifle.

Does it "THUNK"?

I find that is a characteristic sound heard only on a '64 Kodiak.

Of course on a 70# it may be more like "THONK".

Is it original, or has it been refinished?  If that is original, it is in super fine shape!

I think it thunk, but the tree impact noise was more like BAM!

It was really pretty quiet with the 20 strand string and no silencers at all.

It is raining pretty heavy right now, But I am eager to thunk a bit more.

DAN

I don't know how much you got for the 70# Kodiak, but I doubt it was cheap

Don't let the Super Mag go cheap.  In my opinion, the '66 has the highest collector's value, as it was the first year.  The ones with phenolic risers are definitely worth more that the futurewood models.

I have a 55# '66.
