Title: Damon Howatt Hunter manufacture year
Post by: portugeejn on April 21, 2008, 10:11:00 PM
I am posting these pics and question for a friend of mine.  Any idea what year this Damon Howatt Hunter was made?  The logo wasn't focused well, so I made an inverse copy that was a little more legible.  The serial number is HH3520, AMO 62".  Thanks.

Ron

I really don't know, but my guess is mid 90s.

I think the "3" that begins the serial means 1993, (or 1983). I have one with the same wood, and I would be interested to hear from DH experts. It has a factory stabilizer insert, and I really like the grip.
I read that "brownish" color means 80s, "reddish" color means after 1974, and Martin name was put on DHs around 1998. So am I right to guess that my "brownish" hunter with a serial number starting with "9" is a 1989?

I could never get a grip on DH serial numbers and how they relate to the year made.  The closes I could ever come is the difference in the LOGOS with the older ones have ing the conquistador on a horse, tne newer onees have the "DH", and the really older ones had a different logo that I can't recall.

Howattman on that "cow skin bulkhead" site said it was 1973.  Since he is the resident expert on Damon-Howatt bows, I tend to think he is right.

"Cow skin bulkhead site".........That's pretty funny!

Yeah, it's a '73.  (The '83 models didn't have the pronounced "scoop" on the face-side of the sight window and the accent stripe wasn't quite so wide, while the '93 models used laminated maple for the risers.)
