1961 kodiak deluxe,Can anyone help me out? I am trying to pick one up. What is the upper end dollar wise they have been selling for?I have not seen one for sale before. It has the crystal glass w/ wood veeners? on limbs.I want one of these, they are really something else.
Thanks Kurt
PS if someone wants to sell one 40 to 50 lbs please let me know.

Kurt,
The Kodiak Deluxe was made in 1960 only.Prices vary depending on condition. Some develope stress cracks and some get a cloudy, hazy look to the glass where I believe the clear glass is separating from the wood. They had a reputation for de-laminating so it is not recommended that they be strung and/or shot. But they are beautiful to look at.

Thanks JRH,
I searched again a little later and saw that a clean/vgc went for almost 900.00, thats a little steep for me, especially if they are not shooters, don't have pretty enough wall to just hang 'em.

Kurt,
Ya,the price can get pretty hefty for a bow that shouldn't be shot.Maybe you can find one cheap to dress up that wall.LOL Happy Hunting!!

Hi Kurt yes those are 1960,but as for delaming. They really were no worse then any other Bear bow for delaminateing,But with the clear fiberglass, the strees craks looked really bad.Bear could not paint the limbs like they did on about half the 59,60,61,62,63 and 64...to hide the stress cracks.........bowdoc

I had a Deluxe that was 60" and 45#. It had a slight delamination on the lower limb edge. I still shot it a lot. It's a bow and meant to be shot.
The guy I got it from was using it as a carp bow. I fugured if he shot it all those years then I could shoot for a few more.

"meant to be bent".... 1960 Kodiak Special Deluxe, 62", 44#. This has the riser laminations of the 1959 Kodiak Special with the 1960 Deluxe limb layup... same crystal lite glass. This one has been refinished by bowdoc and I am flinging arrows with it. "Sweet shooter", does not do the bow justice.
