A bud has two of them and was asking me what they are worth. They are in very good condition.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Frank

As far as I know, there were no Kodiaks made in the 70's.
Now, was it Kodiak Hunter, Super Kodiak, Kodiak Magnum, Kodiak Super magnum? Of course, the condition, poundage, and actual model will dictate the approximate value.

Bear did come back with a "Kodiak', but I think it was in the '80's. Kinda Mardi Gras looking in that it had multi layerd different color woods in it.
I have one but am not that big a fan of them. It is hard to put a value on something like that but in my opinion they willnot be worth as much as those grand Ole Kodiaks of the mid '60's
-
I got Kodiak on the brain, they are Grizzlys.
-
But I must disagree with the no Kodiaks in the 70's. I bought one at K mart for 20 bucks in 77 or 78.
Think it was the Hunter.
Man, wished I had never sold that bow. I killed more rabbits with it.

I had a bear kodiak hunter in left hand. I think it was about 62 # draw.It was a pretty bow,and shot good.It was 1971 I think.

A kodiak is a Kodiak. A Kodiak Hunter is a whole nuther animal.
The last Kodiak was 1966. There were some in the '67 catalog, but they were left overs from '66. Even in the '67 catalog, the Kodiak pictured had a 66 serial number. In mid '67 the '67-1/2 catalog came out with the new Super Kodiak and the Kodiak Hunter
Sometime in the '80's they brought out a new KODIAK for a short time.
As far as the grizzly go, they are worth what someone will pay, No more, no less. Best thing to do is go to the auction site we must not name and see what like models are selling for. That is what they are worth.
-
That's why I came here, figured ya'll would set me straight.
Thanks,
Frank

I think the Grizzlies are worth about $125 a piece Frank.

You teach me to hunt hogs, and I will keep you straight on Kodiaks.
The only hog hunt I have made so far was with you, Mark, and Chuck at Pine Log, but it was like 22 degrees. Too cold for this Coonass.
-
I believe after 1966 the Kodiaks did not make a return until 1983.Gray furturewood risers, looking somewhat like Bears 1983 take downs.bd
-
Don't know the year , Don; but I have one in the basement. The one I'm talkin' 'bout don't look nuttin' like the Takedown, No accent stripes at all and multi-colored riser wood. U G L Y IMO.
-
I just picked up a 70's 45# Green Grizzly LH model. paid about 140. hope thats a decent price
-
Mid 80's 83-85 maybe Jack??? No stripe just plain actionwood riser brownish or grayish ???? with no riser overlays and actionwood tip overlays??? White or black lettering???? What a shooter they are huh ???? I got one off peebay for 66 bucks shipped last spring (man did I get screwed) No joke, some jerk at Bear Archery ground everything,I mean all of the extra matiral off only one side.Arrow shelf side of the limbs were taperd upper and lower and looked fine. The other side ie plastic button side was straight off the riser no taper, looked kinda like it had never even been sanded other then to knock the excess glue off.Really used hard and bad shooter too....I restored it and gave it to my X son in law for christmas bout 3 years ago.bd

Tracker bouts right price on the Grizzly,Pending condition ( not totaled ).But I figure if they got no bad fiberglass damage and are straight or generaly they can be straightend. They are worth 150.00 anywho. Can't go wrong for that.bd
-
I have seen the 35# models going for well over $200 lately on internet auctions. Maybe because the lightest weight available new is 50#.
In any regard, I found me a 35# futurewood model locally here for $95.
