Title: old bear questions

Hi All,

I am wondering if you guys can tell me anything about this bow? Basically what model it is, when it was made, possible worth, etc. My mom has the bow and e-mailed me the pictures but I am no expert on these old bows (or much else for that matter). The only info in the e-mail was that it has DV 440, 64", 52#, E on the limb. Thanks for the info.

I didn't think they used Rosewood in 59

I must admit thats one of the nicest peaces of rosewood I've seen in a while.I have the same year and length bow in 51 pounds and it ai'nt nearly as nice looking rosewood as that one.Thats a fine prize there blaster,bd

I've got what I believe is a 1960 Kodiak with black and white tip and riser overlays and a copper coin, so not sure the coin alone tells you the year.  You guy's must have better eyes then I do, because I can't tell those limb tip colors.  

The other half of your question, it would bring in the neighborhood of $500 if it's a 1959, more if it's a 1960.

I agree 59 Kodiak with excellent wood.. Nice bow.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm pretty sure she plans to sell it. I'll let you know if she puts it up. I'm sure it will be on that most popular of all auction sites. If you would like to throw a number at me before she does that just PM me and I'll let her know.

I was originally wrong in my first post. I thought it had black and white overlays... it is a 1959 Kodiak.... a good weight... it would do well on auction after the first of the year... $500-$750 more or less.

I have 3 1959s all 64" and pretty sure they have purpleheart windows. That purpleheart does fade so I can't be sure one isn't walnut. The serial numbers begin with:
DA, DB and DE

Well without selling you a copy of the book I never wrote,,,You really could not tell alot form those numbers,but the D of course was the 64" generaly and B was the 60" generaly....But the V would have been a later model 1959 is all.Nice bow......bowdoc
