Title: Bear Black Bear age
Post by: retread on September 16, 2007, 09:54:00 PM
I have a Black Bear recurve i bought new, but i cant remember when i got it. (senior moment)
The only info i have been able to find is the Black Bear was made from 1972-1978. The glass is black or very dark green and it has a BB serial no. not a k.
It has a radius to the shelf and came with a stick on weather rest.
Anybody know what year it was made?
  Thanks  Bill

In 1978, a strike at the Bear plant in Grayling, MI forced a move of all manufacturing and offices to Gainesville, Florida.  If your bow says Gainesville on it, then you know that it was made after this move.

It's a Grayling bow.

In my opinion it is a later on. The normal serial number for a Black Bear is KXXXXX and yours having BB to me means it was a later one. My bet is that it is a 76/77 bow.
