Title: 1966 Grizzly

I asked this over in the "shooter's Forum", maybe this would be the better place ?
 Does anyone know what the factory set the brace height for, on this bow ?
58" 42#
Also, can anyone give a pall park figure on it's worth, I don't want to sell it, just wandering. I paid $7.00 at a yard sale in Pa. about 17 years ago.

Brace height 7-8". They are worth what someone will pay. The Grizzly's don't bring as much as some of the others, but do pretty well depending on condition, etc. Suffice it to say you got your $7.00 worth! CKruse

Is that measurement from the inset of the grip, or at the backend of the shelf ?

The '66 Grizzly is one of the better ones according to Joe St. Charles.  I picked up one at NW Archery about 10 years ago in 55# and in excellent condition.  Joe indicated the limb design of the 1966 made it one of the fastest ones that Bear made.

They ARE great shooters and one of the best values out there.  Most Grizzlies seem to go from $100-$200 bucks, depending on poundage and condition.

Needless to say, I had to pay more than $7 for mine.

I love shooting mine, it's so smooth, just an overall nice bow to shoot. It's in real fine shape too. The $7.00 was deffenitly a steal. I do wish it was little heavier in poundage though. I'm getting a new string made for it, my son is going to use it to hunt with. I'm in the process of getting it set up for him to use now.
 I appreciate all of the help from you folks.

What was the longest length of that model?

The Grizzly was a 62" bow until 1964. It went to 58" from 64-67. In 1968-70 it was 56". It returned (and remains) at 58" in 1971. I'm glad my head is full of such useful knowledge!   :knothead:  CKruse

I went to this website someone posted:

 It showed my year bow as grey glass only, same exact bow, but my glass is green.

Now I don't know what to think. My camera is doing some weird things, I'll try an post a photo later.

Your glass color may look green due to yellowed finish. It's really common on these old bows. It's also not unheard of to see some variance in glass colors amonst a certain model or year. Your bow is a 1966. CKruse
