Title: Fred Bear Print
Post by: TLANE on March 27, 2006, 09:19:00 AM
Has anyone ever seen the Fred Bear print with him holding the bobcat over his shoulder?  I was wondering if it came from an original photo and when the photo may have been taken.  I wonder how many of these are still out there as only 1000 were made?

Thanks
Toby

On the cover of the March 1948 issue of "Hunting & Fishing" is Fred Bear with a bobcat.  I cannot remember if this is the same scene as on the poster or note.

He is talking about the first commemorative print that the AAC put out about 20 years ago. It was Fred on a hunt in I believe Czechoslovakia.

I donated my copy to the Maryland Bowhunters Society to auciton off at the banquet this past year and it brought about $400. It was matted and framed.

The thing to remember is that it will bring whatever folks are willing to pay. So, to get top dollar you need to pick the event where there will be lots of FB collectors or archery collectors who would be willing to pay a lot for it. For example, you won't get $4,000+ for an early FB Custom Kodiak t/d from most folks, but there are some who will pay that much.
