I just purchased an old Bear Kodiak in great shape and I would be interested in finding out when it was made. It has a longbow style grip and riser, brown glass and the serial number is D2833.
thanks!

need more info...maybe a pic, also, does it have the 1953 date on it, how about a leather grip....
-
Sounds like it could be a 1957, as they usually had a serial number starting with D. If it has a single shelf and standard recurve limbs then it is most certainly a '57. The 1955-56 models had similar features but had a double shelf.
There's a nice website with great information that will help you with your questions:

Great links to related information as well.

It does have a leather grip, but no coin. It does have the 1953 canadien patent mark. It has a single shelf and I would call the recurves standard. According to the Bear website (thanks for the link!) it is a 57. The guy I brought it from thought he had purchased it in 56, but was not 100%.
I will try to post a pic soon. BTW...it really is a nice shooting bow.
