What would be the perfect arrow and broadhead combo for a mature 200 pound plus russian boar
-
600gr, 25% foc or better, single bevel razor sharp head. Worked for me last year on a 375# boar w/ a 44lb bow.
Boar had a 2"+ shield and I got through both sides at 15yds.

I would agree with Prairie Drifter. Out of curiosity, where are you heading for boar?
-
Califronia north of pismo beach. I was told these pigs are of russian deseant and a little tougher thatn some.
-
They have both the feral blood lines and some pigs with the russian lines in cali. The russians will have a big shield and that makes a difference.

I have taken 180lbs+ hogs with a 160 grn stos on a cedar arrow.I shot all three with a 41 lb Blackwidow. The arrows all stuck out opposite side. One went all the way through.I don't think they are all that bad unless they are the very large variety, and you don't hit them in the right spot. But that is with any game. Pick a spot, and choose your shot.Good luck

That's right, California, North Carolina and New Hampshire, probably first, all had Black Forest Pigs released back in the late 1800's, Carolinas in the early 20th Century.
Aloha...

How can I boost up my arrow weight? I have CE heritage 150's with woodsman 150gr head and come in at 500 gr total. How can I get that upto about 600?

One way is to use the weight tubes available from 3Rivers. Some guys use weedwhacker line inside the shaft...post this question in Pow Wow and you'll get some ingenious ideas.

When I used the 150's I used the 3gr/inch wgt tubes and 100 gr brass inserts with the 150 Woodsman's. Packs a punch if your bow wgt fits this setup.

Can't say...don't now bow make, bow weight, draw length.
If you could give a little more detail, then the answer could be more specific.

I shot this boar with a 580 grain arrow, 225 grains on the nose, cedar shaft, 60# @ 26" HH longbow. I shot behind the shield with quartering away shot. He went about 60 yrds or so and piled up. You need as much penetration advantage as possible in case of a poor hit. This guy has just a little bit of Soviet swine!

3:1 or good long taper 3 blade like a woodsman. IMO.

Dragonheart - what spine are your cedars that you shoot the Tuffhead on?
