Title: Beman MFX inside a GT 7595?
Post by: Benny Nganabbarru on December 30, 2007, 05:53:00 AM
My question is: Will a Beman MFX Classic fit inside a GoldTip 7595 Traditional, and if so, with what tolerance? The GT has an internal diameter of .246".

I'm just mulling-over the various options for my heavy Silvertip recurve arriving in April...

Thank you,

Ben

Ben I don't think it will. I just measured that OD of my black Axis 400 and the are .263. And I am sure with the extra coating of the MFX it will be thicker. I don't know how much smaller the 500's are or if they make anything smaller than a 500.

I know the Beman Carbon Hunter 400-16 fit in there just perfectly, they are .242 OD.

Thanks, Rick! With that sort of fit, would you still run some cotton thread around it?

Ben, no there is no room for thread or even enough for them to rattle, they are just a perfect slip fit. I am always experimenting, so I have just left them float with a short bit of rubber tubing in at one end to make a compression fit, but if I decide to stay with one version, I will glue them in with Gorilla Glue(polyurethane). This is what I recommended to Jay Campbell for his buff hunt and he and his wife both used them to good advantage, they did use the GT Big Game 100+ as the outer shaft though. You can also fit an Easton Aluminum 1516 "Jazz" shaft inside, but it will be a bit looser, I don't have one here, but the OD should be .234.
