I am thinking about ordering a new set of limbs for my Robertson recurve. I currently shoot 67lbs @ my draw length which is adequate for the game I hunt (deer & elk). If I can save up the $ I definitely would like to hunt Cape Buffalo or Asiatic Water Buffalo. I would like to order a set of limbs that would be legal and capable of taking that type of game. Can anyone give me some idea of what the current regulations are relating to bowhunting dangerous game in Africa and elsewhere? Thanks. Dan

Dan, for Australia there are no laws, its up to you, but of course if you are going to all that effort and expense you might as well do it right. I know in South Africa they go by KE and just about no trad bow is going to meet the requirment, but of course no one is going to measure the KE of your bow. I think the arrow is more important than the draw weight, you need a HEAVY, small diameter, perfect flying arrow with two blade. three to one head. If you did everything perfect you could get by with 70# no problem. HOWEVER, nobody doew their best shooting on a buffalo, so you are better off with a bit of extra, most guys I know have been using bows around 80-85#'s. Rick

Rick is right. No one is checking your equipments KE or arrowspeed and -weight.
