Dang Ralph, how come you're lettin' Shane kill the big boys, and you are shooting them lil' ole scrub bucks!
:bigsmyl:
Nice deer, for sure. How'd ya like that short little bow?
:notworthy:
It don't get much better than that! Congrats on a great deer and with one of those little Sheepeaters too. Awesome!
Nice! :notworthy:
Clint, I love that short little bow. It's only 52# and I'll guarantee you, it rammed that magnus head and cedar shaft clear through his big ole chest. The doe I shot fell over within 25 yards. This guy ran about 50. I shot a turkey this fall that didn't go 30 ft. I suppose it's all about putting the arrow where you want it to go. Can't always do that with foam, however, we don't dine on foam too much at the Renfro House. Just laying in meat for the winter. I have hunted with the Sheepeater from Spring Turkey season through this fall and I have put everything on the ground that I could legally harvest. Shoot I may have a lot of trouble hanging it up to shoot one of my own bows. It's SWEEEEEET!
Nice Job Ralph!!!!!...that's a dandy buck..and you are correct...those are dandy bows!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!Congrats.
Congrats Mr. Ralph!!!! That is a nice deer!!
I'll be sure to show this to Sarah when gets home.

Awesome!! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
Those Sheepeaters really fling an arrow. I was forty yards from Brent last year when he droped an elk with his sheepeater. One of these days I will put down my selfbows long enough to hunt with mine.
Nice job Ralph. Great to see you out giving em hell! Congrats! CK
Congrats. Really nice buck.

Wow Ralph..........well, that is all I have to say.
Cept, where was Mrs. Di when you was loading that buck all by yourself? Congrats my friend.
Good looking buck Ralph. Did you get him over there by Great Bend?
Thanks for your comments guys. Matty, the bow is a Sheepeater Spirit. 48" Static Recurve made by Brent Rudolph. It pulls 52# which is good enough. It shoots straight and hard and is a pure joy to carry. It's the only bow to come down the pike that I'd put my own bows down for an entire season. I told Brent and Mark that I was declaring this the year of the Sheepeater. I've killed 5 tom turkeys, a whitetail doe and this buck with it. It's performance is unbelievable and under no circumstances would I part with it. Brent, Miss Di only cooks em, no gutting, no draggin, no skinning. She will help me get him into small packages.
The whole story is I was hunting over a waterhole that lots of does visit. I saw him coming at 100 yds. He came in and was 15 yards away, broadside, when a doe came out of the woods north of him. He turned his head to look at her and Overdrive kicked in. Arrow buried to the fletch tight behind the shoulder. He wheeled end for end and snapped the nock end off on a tree. Before he hit the woods 20 yards away the business end of the arrow fell out and I could see blood pumping out. I lowered my stuff out of the stand picked up the two pieces of shaft and followed the red brick road to the buck. Snapped a couple of pic and went to work. Only had to drag him about 30 yds. He wasn't one of the four bruisers I was really hunting, but..he was there. I call bucks this size "4th and Short Bucks". As a FB coach for 32 years I know that you'll never know what you'll do in that situation untill you're facing it. Maybe you'll punt, and maybe you'll go for it. This time I went for it. Ralph
Thanks for the rest of the story Ralph......congrats again!
he's a dandy for sure. great job, thanks for sharing...
Awesome! Way to go Ralph! :clapper:
I don't think I'll ever be wondering what to do on fourth and short. I see one like that I'm going for it!
Great buck Ralph! :clapper: :clapper:
Great buck congrats
Sweet!! Way to go!..He's a dandy..nice bow too!!
Congrats Ralph!! Man, he's a DANDY! I'd have gone for it, too. Sounds like you and that bow are getting off to a great friendship. :archer:
:clapper: :clapper:
"followed the red brick road to the buck."
Mind if I pull this quote out once in a while and use it? Or would you rather keep it to yourself? I found it kinda catchy. Congrats, Chad
Help yourself Chad. I just figured that so many people know nothing about Kansas other that the Wizard of Oz, they should be familiar with the yellow brick road. But this guy painted it red.
Great Deer Mr. Ralph!
:bigsmyl: :campfire:
Congrats Ralph! Way to bust up them deer and turkeys this year.
great job Ralph,congrats!
It is a beautiful mature Kansas buck. When Ralph draws down on a critter it is in trouble!
Ralph is a shooter. I talked with some at Mojam 1 and 2 and watched him shoot the javalina target that they had set up on cables for a moving target. He had that real bendy handle osage self bow. That moving target was in trouble alot and Ralph was taking everyone's money.
Very nice deer. Congrats
Congrats Ralph, really nice! :clapper:
Nice deer. And good thing you sawed and sanded those brow tines so you didn't get hurt.
Congrats.
Wow Ralph...don't know how I missed this one the last couple days, but heck of a fine deer, my friend! Congratulations....and tell Di, I said hellow!
Mr.Ralph, I saw your 9 pointer. It's really cool. your freind, Logan
Great buck!
I would worry that any minute I was gonna wake up if I got a buck like that.
Congratulations sir. Sincerely. Amazing.
Very nice Ralph, you never cease to amaze me. Look forward to the campfire at Ojam this next year. I did'nt think you would stoop to shooting glass!! :biglaugh:
Terry
Terry, this season was the first season since 1991 that I hunted with a bow made by anyone other that myself. After I got the Sheepeater from Brent and Mark, I told em, that I would declare this the year of the Sheepeater and I've kept my word. I used it during Spring Turkey season and added all the spurs allowed by law to my necklace. Then this fall, I've done the same with whitetails, a doe on Oct 15th and this buck on Nov 26th. Somewhere in between em is another Tom turkey with one to go. Waiting on a limb hanger.
Strong work, sir. May the memories bring you joy!
Note to self: Do not double click!
Wow that is a great buck!
Congratulations on a great animal. I think the critters remaining in your neck of the woods are all anxiously waiting for the New Year and a different bow to hit your hands (although I'm of the camp that believes it's mostly the operator).
Thanks for the story.
Good shootin Ralph, congrats!!!!
Big Congratulations!
So that's what you've been doing! Good one Ralph!
Good job Ralph! Good timing also, it will probably be COLD in the stand after rifle season.
Congrats on a great season! Good Luck for gett'n that last Tom!
I'm sure I'll find a good tom somewhere!! But for now, during firearm season, I'm gonna enjoy sleeping in till 7:00. Then I hope to find some sheds off the guys I didn't shoot.
