I'm convinced a Weber kettle grill and Kingsford charcoal is all the average person needs to produce great food. I do everything from smoked jerky kippered meat) and fish to whole turkeys. Put an A-MAZE-N smoker in it, and you have a cold smoker. VERY versatile cooker for $100. Definatley the best bang for the buck out there.

They are indeed a classic. But I would have to say the best bang for the buck is a WSM, Webber Smokey Mountain smoker.
-
Ditto on the Smoky Mountain. It's easy to use and the results are practically fool proof.

I run the weber kettle as my only form of grilling meat...everything from steak to chicken to pork to fish to wild game. I will never go back to gas.
I do have an electric smoker for actual smoking, but you can cook indirect on a weber kettle and get close to full smoking.

The Weber Kettle is a great product for sure, but my wife and others like her, both male and female, just don't have the patience, or know how, to appreciate the flexibility of charcoal. I own and use a Webber kettle, an outstanding gas grill(my wife's favorite), and I just might purchase a Traeger pellet grill before the new year to replace my big Texas smoker, which is currently up for sale. To each his own; enjoy the experience, as well as the results. :campfire:

I love the webber grill!! It CAN be used for any of your outdoor cooking needs. It may not be the BEST choice for every situation but it WILL get it done

CD, your right!
And they have a long life in them too, mine is 20 years old and has sat out in the rain & snow(uncovered) every day of its life and is still in very good shape.

Yep, they rock!

I have been through all sorts of grills over the years and ended up right where I started. Weber Kettle grill with charcoal. It just gets the job done!

I have used a weber for many years. Good grill. Lately I have been using a device in my Weber called "SMOKENATOR". It turns the weber into a pretty good smoker. I got mine from Amazon.
While your at it go to amazingribs.com....Lots of good grill/bbq info.

I have used Weber kettles for many years. To show how ingrained they've become to my family, I'll tell you a tale about my younger son. He called me up and said he wanted to tell me about the horrible nightmare he had the night before. It seems the IRS came to his house to audit him, and when they left, all they took was his Weber grill. It was awful!

I'm stashing some coin for a wsm, but I've used a kettle for years and basically have learned to get that thing to smoke and bbq anything I wanted. Truly a versatile cooker, Only reason I'm getting the wsm is longer burn times and increased cooking space.
-
I love my Weber Kettle and that's all I need. Period.
BUT...if I want to bring my smoked meats up a notch then a dedicated smoker like the WSM is ready to fill the gap, and worth it, IMO.

The old weber is what I have used for many years. Also have an old cast iron wash pot a grad student from OSU gave me that I put a weber lid on. It's even better.
Goldfinger, like the Pistol Pete. Left Stillwater last year after working at OSU.
