My wife has a big industrial Kitchen Aid mixer.
There is a meat grinder attachment available. Has anyone used this for their burger or sausage?
I would like to just get the attachment rather than a complete new grinder if it works adequately.

It works okay, not great, but if you are only going to do small batches it works fine. Make sure your meat is VERY cold, since it is a smaller grinder, it will heat up fast, and your meat will get gummy going through.

What is the wattage on your big, industrial Kitchen Aid? The watts will determine the power. The 600 series Kitchen Aid is 575 watts and is designed to handle large batches of dough for bread making. Cabelas has a good line of meat grinders in their catalog or on line. Shop and compare wattage and price.

I bought a refurbished grinder a few years ago for about half the price of a new one. I tried the kitchen aid one but mine was just not powerful enough.

I've got the kitchen aid attachment, and it has worked great. About two elk and 5-7 deer per year for burger (over the last 7 years)....no complaints, but it is easier if the meat is cold and firm.

It works great, make sure to put the meat in the freezer before grinding it, otherwise the fat warms and it doesn't work well. I have used mine alot.

I use mine without any problems at all. I shoot 3-5 deer per year so it is not used commercially but certainly gets a workout and has not dissapointed. I make summer sausage, hunter sticks and burger with no problem. I would say if it is going to be used for a few deer per year you will be trouble free. I do not freeze the meat before grinding and have no trouble at all. I do a careful job to clean up all the fat and hair and cut the meat into strips so they fit nicely into the feed mouth. The tendon and sinew gets caught up in the blades and it sort of self cleans the meat.
Fat/hair=bad / sinew=no problem in my experience

We used to use a grinder attachment for a stand mixer with mixed results. I agree with others recommendations that the meat needs to be cold and in my experience dont plan on have an all day grinding session. They arent intended to grind 3-4 deer at a sitting

I think that they work great for what they are. Just trim the meat up a little better and grind on slower settings. I would still be using mine but a buddy sold me his big grinder for pretty cheap. I have two of the Kitchen aid attachments if you may be interested in one. Send me a pm
