I was going thru some suppliers of bow buidling stuff to bring myself up to date on prices having been away for so long. I didn't get very far because of the shock..... is it true that a single osage stave can be priced at $100.00. I guess I'm out of touch...... and I feel a bit like Rip Van Winkle.
God bless,Mudd
Yeah, if you want a nice osage stave you'll pay for it. You can get a nice bow from white wood, though, and there are a number of folks who'll sell a nice hickory or ash stave for a (more) reasonable price. You can also harvest what you have locally, which is the best way to reduce costs and have good control over the quality.
All the best,

I'm still working off the last stuff I got at Mojam a couple years back, that was much less, but I'm also willing to work trashwood. I use home grown stuff too, mostly Ironwood, Elm and Maple, usually free for the cutting.
Mudd,
Just for perspective, that's four or five pizzas, or a tank and a half of gas for your truck.
Don't let the numbers scare ya, it's all relative....
It's all relatively out of my price range. :(
I'm guessing its a good thing I stumbled onto my personal stash. I had mentioned finding them in another post and someone e-mailed me asking what I'd have to get for one or two of them to which I had to reply "duh dunno!"
I also found a nice looking Vine Maple bow blank(anyone ever make a bow using this wood?) hiding in a cardboard box but I'm still scratching my head looking for my solo stalker..lol
God bless,Mudd
PS My new longbow should be here by wednesday Yahoo! Spirit longbow 62" 49#@28.....
