Has anyone noticed that they get better supported on bone alignment with one bow over another? I've really put this to the test recently, shooting my longbow and recurve, side by side for a week. I can feel proper support with the longbow, but not as well with the recurve. My shot execution, including how I grip the bow, is the same with both bows. With the recurve, I feel supported on muscle, get tired quicker, and just don't shoot as well as I do with the longbow. Anyone else experience this?
Due to the simplicity of a longbow grip, I don't find it difficult to find a place where the force is directly back against the V between my thumb and forefinger. Some recurve grips are so highly sculpted that they almost seem to defeat the purpose for which they were designed. Instead of being easier to grip, I can't seem to find a place where the grip doesn't feel like it's slipping out of my hand, forcing me to use more muscle to keep it in place. Those I don't keep very long.
