Title: Taboo release
Post by: Patknight on November 01, 2016, 10:27:00 PM
Hey guys..I've always shot three fingers under, always will..but I had an interesting experience..I was shooting my compound, then went to my Assenhimer.. without thinking I didn't take off my release....so I said I'll give it a go....good Lord, ive shot recurve a long time,,I just got this one,and I shot a 6 inch group of 8 arrows at 20..a few rounds later I got a mock off..I'm almost scared to tell y'all I like it...it works for me..i know I'd made a snide remark 15 yrs ago if it where someone else but not now... anyone ever try a release??

Several years ago I hurt my fingers and couldn't pull my bowstring.  I grabbed my sons release. Gee Whiz!  Deadly poison.  I probably shot better that fall than I ever have.  I did have to nock the string about 1 and 1/2" below the arrow to get the same look as with fingers.

Do what you gotta do to put the arrow where it needs to go.  :^)

With arthritis in my future, I might consider it in 20 yrs.

Nothing wrong with using a release if your hand is messed up.

However I don't think I would get the same enjoyment or even accuracy as shooting with a release because you lack the tactile awareness that you would have shooting fingers and possibly a reference point or two you would have shooting fingers.

Have you guys looked into thicker gloves?
