Peter Iacavazzi had a great hunt for this bruiser in MT and had a special treat sharing it with his boy Tanner.
You'all can probably coax him into telling the story of the hunt if you ask real nice :notworthy:
That's one happy,good lookin' boy!

NICE! Congrats Peter, that's a dandy  :clapper:
That's a pic for the wall!!
The buck is too!
Congrats!
Thanks guys! I shot him late in the afternoon on Tuesday the 20th. I had seen him twice in 2 days. He's a big old 4x5. His body weight was easily close to 300 lbs. I had him chasing a doe around my stand for 10 minutes before he would present a shot. He stood almost directly under me for several minutes deciding to go right or left.
If he went left I would have had no shot. Well as you can guess he went right. He gave me a quick shot at 10 yards as he passed thru my shooting lane on his way to start the doe chase again. In fact he came thru so quickly I didn't even reach full draw. But with a 75 lb recurve and heavy shafts with very sharp Wensel Woodsmans (which I did not sharpen as I am WW impaired)he took it thru both lungs as he came into my lane.
He never even knew he was hit. He was chasing the doe when all of a sudden he just collasped in sight of my tree...Damn I like that!
The kicker is that while I waited a much bigger 180" class buck came right thru the same lane chasing the does he was originally after. I love Montana and I love the mule deer rut!
The following morning I brought my 4 year old lil' boy Tanner to help daddy find the buck. Even though I knew where he was I let Tanner do all the tracking and of course find "his" buck.
I took some great pics of Tanner finding blood sign (which was everywhere, even on the trees)I have already begun writing a great story for TBM all about my newest and bestest hunting partner Tanner.
He's a good buck. While I don't place alot of interst on score he is a solid P&Y buck. In fact he is my 11th Mule Deer that would make the book (if I enetered em')Which I don't.
Now, if only my whitetail success and/or luck was as good...
Best, Peter & Tanner
COOL Pic Peter!!! LETS HEAR THE STORY....Don and Skyler
Oh Peter.......that's an awful nice buck there, I'm sure Tanner would want you to share the story with all of us.
(Curt's right by the way, what a happy, great looking boy you have there, obviously a reflection of his parents....)
David
Great story and congrats! It's really cool having a son or daughter to share in the things we love so much....Don and Skyler
OUTSTANDING! Congrats great pic.<><
Thanks again guys. Yes he is a handsome lil' man...If I say so myself.
What I forgot about the above story was that in the 4 hours I was on stand I had muley bucks chasin does around almost all the time. In fact from the time I climbed in my tree till I got down there was never a time I could not see or hear deer. For those whitetail nuts out there. The mule deer rut is just as exciting, amazing and worth experiencing.
I love those big Mulies.
Great story, great buck, and great start of a long and special relationship!
Congrats again Peter...thanks for sending me the pic earlier!...Like I said..great buck, great pic!

Thanks again all. Tanner is getting a kick out of seeing his picture on the TG computer. Bob, I am really looking forward to Texas as well. My whitetail hunts have not been much to write home about lately! So I am really excited to experience a good deer hunt with you, Guru, Terry and some other great people.
Best, Peter

Peter, Nice Buck! Your boy looks like he loves it. Gotta love and support the next generation. Seeing a father and son smiling over such a beautiful animal is a true blessing. Way to go Tanner! T
Love them Muleys! Congrats to you and Tanner.

That is awesome. A doe with your boy would have been just as great an experience for you both so to get one like him is priceless. Bet Tanner is hooked for life.
