did one last year with denatured alcohol, as a matter of fact it too was a bear grizzly. Just wet an old towel and lay it on it till it loosens up. takes awile but she'll come clean and not break down the finish. When done just hit her with some car polish.

Go with the Alcohol&Elbowgrease method....(NO STEEL WOOL!!!!!)

It takes awhile but heck, everyone needs a winter "project" right Brother?????

(after your done,if you don't have any car polish,Lemon Pledge shines them up real nice)

Acetone or fingernail polish remover

I used denatured alcohol and a rag last time I had to remove old paint off a bow.  It worked really well.

Just cleaned up a grizz two weeks ago. I used 0000 steel wool and finger nail polish remover took about ten minutes. Gotta use a buncha the remover though. Finish looks good as new when done.

Just tap the afflicted areas lightly with a chainsaw. I prefer the Stihl.

Ha...see, told ya it was either acetone or denatured alcohol...  :bigsmyl:
If you're still on the fence about removing the paint, my suggestion is that you should. There really is a pretty bow hiding under all that flat brown paint...

Try lacquer thinner and use very fine steel wool, it won't dissolve the original finish beneath the paint.
