been using grizzly broadheads 125gr for awhile but the new ones i bought seem to have a harder steel. in fact the broadhead just glides over the file. puchased a new file with the same results. tried the files on another brand of broadhead and they worked fine. anybody experience similar problems? any suggestions?
thanks and happy turkey day
Grizzlies do have a harder Rockwell hardness (60 I think) than most all other BH's...and can be difficult on a file. I use a 6" and 8" Grobet file, which are sold by 3Rivers and they work, but the Grizzly will eventually dull my file. A good quality, 10" Mill Bastard file should work for you. How are you using the file?
The 160 and 190 Grizzlies are harder than the other Grizzlies; but a large Nicholson bastard still works fine-just takes a bit longer, and like Moengo says they will dull your file.
The 160 is my fav head; once its sharp it is easy to keep it that way.
The newer ones are a little harder, like they used to be in the first place.
The standards target is now 50-52 and the El Grandes 51-53 Rockwell.
