I am considering booking a pig hunt for the first week in April, my spring break. Thought about Texas but not quite sure if I can do the distance at that time. Can anyone recomend a good outfitter who knows how to put trad hunters on the pigs? Thanks!
Doug
I always thought South Carolina was knee-deep in feral hogs? Is there no-one in State you can hunt with?
Try HERE (http://www.bostick-plantation.com/boar_hunting.php) , ANY OF THESE GUYS (http://www.worldclassoutdoors.com/south_carolina_hunting.htm#Hidden%20Valley%20Hunt%20Club) , HERE (http://www.paradisevalleyhuntingclub.com/) or HERE (http://www.outdoortalknetwork.com/boar.html)
Google is your friend! :D
Cory Mattson wrote in TBM sometime back about the great pig hunting along the S. Carolina coast
Florida to is thick with pigs too.
I might be able to line you up with a real nice fellow here in TN. Plenty of hogs, lodge, meals, etc. But not overdone or overpriced. PM me if your interested and I'll give him a call. Might even try to put in a day hunt with you if it works out.
Doug:
You may do a search of Ft. Stewart Ga. Sounds like a great place to do some hog hunting. Also there was a article in the latest TBM about hog hunting on Milston SP? plantation here in SC. I did a serch but didnt come up with any information.

Rob,
Thanks for the information. SC has a lot of pigs. My problem is that I live in the upstate region of the state and the pigs are in the low country. I think I will give the guys at Bucks & Boars a call.
Mike,
I thought you had to know someone to hunt Milston SP. Do they offer guided hunts?
Doug
Doug:
I guess you have to know someone, I couldnt find any info about it (Milston). There was a guy around the Anderson area that I went with years ago that ran hogs with dogs, really fun, but I wouldnt want to do it again. If you find a good place let me know I wouldnt mind going a few days myself for spot and stalk hunting.
Short Story: After I killed the hog with bay dogs the dogs bayed another and the guide turned loose his catch dog (Pit Bull)which grabbed the hog The guide then grabbed the hog by the back legs and instructed me to hit the catch dog to make him let go. He would not let go so he kept telling me to hit the dog harder. He finally let go and was as calm as a puppy. But you gotta wonder about hitting a Pit Bull, dont you.
Good luck on your search.
Didnt I buy a PL11 from you?? Best bow Ive owned.....yet.
Mike
Mike,
That guy from the Anderson area (Starr/Iva to be exact) wouldn't happen to be David Rainy(Hardscable Hunting Lodge). If that is he, then I think that was a pen opperation and I'm not sure if he is still running it.
Doug
Yep, Star/Iva area. The name doesnt ring a bell but may be the same operation. I took it that they would catch hogs and release them in areas across the upstate. I think DNR put a stop to that.
