Right now it is 64 degrees and cloudy, Thanksgiving morning it is supposed to be 32 degrees, winds NNW and a chance of light snow! It will be the fourth day of gun season and I am hoping all the opening day/fair weather hunters sleep in 'cause I've touched up the broadheads and aired out the wool. I'm good till about 11:00 and then it's off to my mom-in-laws to eat too much. BUT when everybody else is nappin' I'll be heading back to the woods! Good luck to all who are hunting, safe travel wishes to those hitting the road and a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to everyone here on the 'gang! God Bless-Mike
I'll be out there with Hill in hand.
gonna beg my mom to let me go that morning since family is not ariving till the afternoon

Hunting on Thanksgiving as a young kid was Traditional. Uncles, Cousins, Dad and myself.
Since I gave up gun hunting 36 yrs ago and people are no longer around, I spend the day with my family. I will be bowhunting Friday and Saturday in New Jersey. Thursday will be a day of relaxing, eating Turkey, sipping Gin and watching some football.
Good luck to all you fellas out there on Turkey Day...

You bet. It's traditional before we head to my sisters for real food :bigsmyl:

It is a tradition, as Joe said we always did it as a family. Now it is just me and my son-in-law. He is new family. We will sleep in and get to our stands around 9am. we will sit until 1:30 and than dinner at 2:15, unless we shoot one than dinner can wait a while. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Shawn
I'll be out.Treating my Brother-in-law to a hunt in my neck of the woods. We'll both be carrying Super Kodiaks. :archer:
I may take my 7 year old boy and my new Griffin and try to get one of these big city bucks near a local bike trail as long as it doesnt rain.
ill be working a triple shift (36 straight hours) so there will be zero hunting or family time for me :(
I'll be out that late afternoon, I'm the cook so I have to get everthing done for dinner. But after I eat and get stuff clean up I'm heading out for the rest of the day.
Yep it's Trad
I'll be hunting all day, every year we eat after dark so my Dad, Uncle, and I can hunt.
For the first time since I met my wife in '95... YES... I'm going hunting on Thanksgiving day!
Wife and son are in TX, and I'm in VA, so I'll be hunting the morning, eat lunch with my hunting buddies, and then return to the woods for an evening hunt.
Looking forward to it!!!
All the best,
Glenn
I forgot to mention that Thursday is the first day of tree rat season where I hunt. So it's them first but if I happen to see a deer.
Well I tried to bring up the subject of skipping the in-laws dinner and just going to camp. All I got as a response was "The Look"....again.
We compromised, I go to the in-laws then I get to go hunting. :bigsmyl:
I'm going out too. Anyone ever shot a turkey on Thanksgiving day. That's always been my dream. Eat a wild bird that I shot that morning.
Hasn't happened yet.
Chris
It's always been a big family tradition for my family. The group is in the woods till 12, then dinner then back out.
This year, I've got a nice lil portion of thick woods all to myself since the rest will be rifle hunting. I'm taking the longbow for it's first thanksgiving day hunt!
Good luck to you all, and happy turkey day..
Yes.
Deer hunting early and then at 10:00 or 11:00 take my dogs out and try to shoot a limit of roosters before the family gets to my house.
Be out behind the house for a couple of hours in the AM before the family arrives.
Yep, my wife actually said she WANTED to have dinner after 6:00 and expected me to be hunting!
No thanksgiving hunting for me this year.
I hope to get out for a weekend or two closer to x-Mas/New Years. Otherwise my bow season is done.
My brothers and I always hunted waterfowl on Thanksgiving morning but this year I will go alone after Deer. Can only be out until 10:00 though my wife says she is not peeling 10lbs of taters by herself.
Brian
I hope to, but we'll see. You know how things go sometimes.
I'll be out there chasing them around!
Was planning too but the wife changed my schedule last night. I usually spent most of Thanksgiving Day chasing caribou getting back in time for turkey. Instead she says that I have go to my daughters TG morning. So no caribou but I still may slip in some fur calling with my SIL.
Its a tadition. Christmas too. Gonna run the hound and shoot at some bunnies. I will be using two blade zwickeys. Hope he doesn't run a deer my way
yes all day dinner at 6:00 P.M. good luck to all

i will also be out in the morning on turkey day in the last 15 years have only missed hunting turkey day one time
Not me. I get to hunt as much as I want during the year and I spend Thanksgiving day with the wife & kids.
Day after for me. Family tradition is the local 10k before the feast. Gonna break 50 minutes pushing my little girl in the jogger!
Gun season starts saturday so we have one more day in Maryland before the orange army comes out for two weeks.
Absolutely. My family has been trained to have Thanksgiving on Wednesday evening cause ol Dad's gonna be gone in the morning.
4 days of being thankfull in my own way.
This is like asking if Bill Clinton enjoys a quality cigar.
You KNOW it brother!!! I'll be hunting from dawn until the stuffing is served...
I'll be out in the evening if the weather permits
Pheasant hunting with my dad and my son...I have some flu flus ready!!! Today my dad and his 2 buddies shot 9 birds in two hours so I am hoping for a repeat.
You bet!! I'll be hunting a brand new spot with buck sign like I haven't seen in a long time.
The fact that I've worked so much and have hardly hunted this fall makes tomorrow mornings hunt even sweeter......I have very high hopes....
Yessir, wouldn't miss it for the world. The Thanksgiving hunt has always been a special time for me. Years past, I was a hardened bird hunter on this special day, but the last 5 yrs. or so has seen me sitting in the deer woods with bow in hand. Good Luck to everyone venturing out in the AM!!!!
My son and I made it out into the wind and the (barely) spitting rain. We saw two does (kicked up by some other hunters), several squirrels (missed one by this --> <-- much), a few rabbits and a cock pheasant.
The pheasant was about ten yards away and I was so happy to have a shot at him that I promptly dropped my arrow in a mud puddle. Whoopsie!
Oh well - I'll go ahead and declare this a fantastic morning.
Would of gone out but I'm fresh out of tags...darn lol.Only tag I have left is for the late bow/muzzleloader season that starts after the regular gun season ends in a coupla weeks.Gonna go out with the bow of course.
