Title: Hello
Post by: PaBow Dad on November 20, 2007, 11:17:00 AM
Hello,
First time poster here. I was told this might be the place to get a question answered about a recurve that was just given to me recently.
Here is what I know about the bow:

Ben Pearson PUMA
703-62"
03-2972
X45#-28"

Here is my question. What type-size-length of string is needed for this bow? Being a compound shooter makes this all new to me. What arrows would be needed as well.. Where can I get some arrows READY TO GO? I don't have the tools needed to make my own so getting this stuff ready to go will be important to me. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks

The "X" in front of the 45# means they missed the targeted weight by a pound or so. It looks to me by the serial number the bow was made in the early 70s. 703 is the model number. And they have told you about were to get the string. Look on the notorious auction website for some Microflite #7 or #8 for a real retro shooting experience. If your draw length is under 27" you can probably shoot #6 Microflites. They are fantastic fiberglass arrows. I actually had my quiver stelen at a state archery tourney because I had a dozen #10s in it back in the 70s.

If you want to go aluminum try some 1916s

You'll most likely need an actual length 58" Recurve string. Have fun with it.
