Title: Takedown selfbow article
Post by: Lost Arra on January 27, 2007, 07:12:00 PM
Mike Yancey wrote an article recently about using metal sleeves for a takedown selfbow. Was it in Primitive Archer or Bowyers Journal? Which issue?

I've torn our house apart looking for it.   :banghead:

Thanks

I dont remember Mikes specifically but I do know there was a 2 piece td "sleeve" style using no metal sleeves for a selfbow in PA a few years back.   I'll try and dig up that article tonight.

I have a self bow that I built with the takedown metal sleeve, I can try and post some pictures if you guys would like to see. =)  I'll try to help out all that I can.

Thanks guys.

Shawn I would like to see some photos.

I'm a little confused. The TBB shows two metal pieces, a brass sleeve and a metal handle. Mike's setup uses three pieces, two brass sleeves, one on each limb with one epoxied to the metal handle piece.

I'm trying to decide what the 3 piece provides that the 2 piece would lack. (When I say three piece I'm not referring to a 3 piece takedown, just three parts in the sleeve.)

Thanks again Ryan.
I found it. I was just looking in the wrong stack of magazines.
