Since my hunting is winding down, I have been daydreaming more and more. I always dream of the few that I hunt, but also dream of those I would like to hunt one day. Mine are elk, mulies, and the dream ones are moose and caribou. So what are your favorites?
Alaskan Brown Bear.
I sure do love hunting mountain lions. And muleys make me smile, too. I am with Walt here, I have always wanted to get a big Kodiak brown.
White Rhinoceros...dare to dream, I guess...
MOOSE...for sure!
Cape Buffalo is my dream!
i think for the ultimate i would have to go for cape buff and alaskan brown bear walk and stalk.
but i'd love to hunt elk or moose in the future!
Moose and African Greater Kudu
My favorite to hunt is whitetails. More out of necessity than any thing (its the only big game animal that has any kind of season in PA). Yeah I know about bears, but I only have so much vacation time and bear season has no Saturdays in my management unit.
As for my dream hunt...Definitely Moose!
cape bufflo doug77
YUKON MOOSE!!!!
Having a huge bull moose madder than H3!! at close range with a long bow and wooden arrow just seems like something I HAVE to do!
For some reason Africa doesn't interest me the least little bit,not sure why either.......
Orcs.
Legolas
possum a close second...
Pigs-on every continent. CK
I hunt whitetails here in Indiana, but I have two dream hunts that someday I'll be fortunate enough to do,...Elk, and a hog in Texas or Georgia, more than a dream really, my son and I talked about doing these when he got out of the service.. he didn't make it, but I will, it's a promise I intend to keep.....Steve
My dream hunt is a float trip in Alaska for moose. I hunt my favorite big game animal every year the white tail deer.
Curtis nailed it! Me and the liitle guy chasing Giant Forest hogs in CAR (Central African Republic) or Ethiopia. Something about big mean hairy hogs just does it for me.
(ELK)Would have to be in some of the most beautiful country GOD created and to hear them bugeling has to send a rush up your spine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At this point it would be a dream come true to be in the woods at all!
I'm with Dean. My favorite to hunt and to dream of is definately elk. Like he said, they live in the most beautiful places on earth, and the bugles are the most incredible thing I've ever heard in the wild. I can't imagine anything better than that!
Combo hunt for moose and brown bear.
Grizz and Elk
Mine would have to be Elk, Cairbu, and black bear
Tigers and jaguar!!!! Its only a dream right? In reality though a cape buffalo or grizz. When I was a kid in Da Bronx it was a Western combo hunt but Ive been lucky enough to make that happen a few times. If buff ang grizz prices keep going up as they do theyll be right there with the tiger and jag, just daydreams.
Moose, and any of the bears.
Pigs with CK....
Black Bear from the ground with Bill Curlis....
Bighorn or stone sheep, mountain goats, and Brown Bears are my dream animals. Extreme country, extreme effort, extreme danger, extreme rewards!
Mountain Lion, I dream of hunting those critters, but I don't think I ever will.
brown bear, cape buffalo, any of the African plains game, elk, moose, caribou, etc..
I also dream of hunting in some of the places I lived as a kid Ethiopia, Panama, etc..
Just last Thursday I can full draw on a squirrel, I thought to myself " are you going to eat that squirrel" , they answer was no, so I drew down. I sure would like to hunt Elk, and I suppose there are a lot of people that I could give the meat away to.
But I guess my favorite is the Whitetail deer, especially the older ones, I like to hunt for the older doe. She's actually smarter than the bucks. And since I've seen a rich deep chocolate buck, now I've got my sights set on him.
Carl
Elk, wapiti,... big ol' rutty slobbering nasty badititude havin' bull, calm, cautious cows, seemingly dumb as rocks satellite bulls.... thats almost all I hunt. Even unsuccessful elk years I don't do much other hunting, just doesn't get my juices flowing the same I guess. Someday I'd like to hunt whitetails (we have them here in Idaho, but mainly up north), pigs would be a hoot. Coyotes give me a rush.... stumps are always fun too!
Mike
Rocky Mt. big horn but I don't think I could ever get into good enough shape at my age. :D :D
Whitetails are fun. But I really want to go out west and kill a big bull elk once. I think just listening to them bugle would be an adrenaline rush.
Kodiak Brown or a Lion in Africa.
BIGHORN SHEEP!!! I'm not in good enough shape, but if I had the money to go I would probably have the time to get in shape. :D
ELK ..... anywhere!
I hunt for them 60 days a year and they are still my dream hunt. A big whitetail, here in NY where I hunt a 120" buck is a real good one, I would love to hunt Kansas, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa or believe it or not Indiana(ya listening VooDoofire) I think Indiana is a big sleeper for a monster whitetail to come out of there. Shawn
I would love to kill a leopard in Africa. :archer: Maybe one day.
Simple......Moose in the interior of Alaska......
David
The big cats.
Moose anywhere and I would like to try rosevelt elk again in Oregon. The coast range was awsome, I had a hard time hunting because I was so busy taking pictures.
Tracy
Float trip for Alaska Moose
Elk. No matter if it was with a rifle, bow, big stick, rock etc. Just as long as I thought there was the smallest chance I might kill one!
Elk,Iowa Whitetail and Bison.
Sheep........Bighorn, Dall, Stone, yes and even Marco Polo, Argali etc. That's my dream :)
Eland! And I'm getting the chance in July too! :D
I would love to take a nice bull elk with my Morrison.
I'd like to hunt jaguar and then maybe a tahr, or ibex, and then for the real odd one a golden takin! Course, they'd all have to be off te ESL!! Almost sure that no one has ever taken one in the modern era with a bow.
Really the total experience is the draw, not just taking killing the animal or getting a trophy, but the area, the surroundings, etc.
Reckon Moose are top of my list-but probably more for the country that for the kill. I know me I would forget I was hunting and just ROAM-looking around! I like to walk. caribou and elk are following close.
J
I used to dream of a Brown bear hunt.
I`m pretty sure I would be brave enough. I can shoot good enough under pressure. Heavy bows... no sweat. I can walk all day with a pack on my back... uphill, no sweat.
As I have gotten older, the thought of leaving my wife even for a week has become a stopper for me.
I worry, that as soon as I arrived at my dream location, all I would truely want, was to go back home as soon as I could.
I`m living my dream chasing whitetails right here at home, showing my kids how much a hunting lifestyle has to offer.
A big bull elk with a bighorn ram a close second. Ben
Caribou and Moose
moose;grizzly or brown bear; African lion.
I want to hunt every big game species in Idaho, and some day head back to AK for griz and caribou, and moose.
I need to get busy! :archer:
Dream hunt - Float the St. Johns River(Alaska). Favorite animal to bow hunt - Elk
I've been fortunate to hunt most of the animals that are in many of your dreams. To name some, elk, moose, caribou, brown bears, black bears, Mt goats, Mt lions, sheep and African game. Every hunt started out as a dream and I somehow made them happen. My advice, follow your dreams if you really want to live them. Some of those animals aren't that expensive to hunt so stop dreaming and go!
What I dream about mostly is hunting all North American sheep. With the cost associated with those hunts it is something I know I will probably never do. But I'm not ruling it out quite yet because we all have dreams and that is mine.
I've been sitting here thinking about this for a day or so and I can't come up with any one animal.
I've always dreamed of going to Africa, Alaska, New Zealand, BC, etc. Not so much to hunt but just to see it.
I love to hunt, don't get me wrong, but for me its more of the being there and experiencing the location more then the taking of any specific game.
Everything mentioned would be a wonderful hunt, but the fact is, if we had Rabbits and Quail here like we did when I was a kid, I could finish out hunting them.
Mine- an alaskan moose. Would love to hunt the areas Fred Bear and friends roamed....
Elk, Caribou are next on my list. I would say my number one goal right now- a big whitetail-say over 140". Have been trying- with no success- yet.
ELK!!!!!!!! I just can't get enough of them. If you have ever had one bugle at 30yds or so you know the feeling I'm talking about, If not well, I quess you had better find out for yourself!!! Caribou somedayI hope!!
Bugling elk for me for sure. BrokenArrow1 - squirrel is yummy!
Elk, and Hogs with Curtis Kellar.

Moose is number one for me....maybe Brown Bear too, but for me-Make Mine Moose! Mike
My favorite is pigs with elk and antelope being the dream hunts.RC
Spot and stalk big Colorado Whitetails. Saw some guys do it with compounds years ago on some outdoor show and It drove me nuts!
Brant
My dream hunt is for a bighorn ram. Maybe someday my dream will come true.
Moose and a chance to tag along with Curtis and HuntIt for hogs all over the world.
Hanging out with Doc Ashby during his next testing.
ELK
bison for sure!!!
I like whatever I have a tag for. Every animal has a special place with me. I do love the high country, and things that can eat you though lol
Elk, and there is no close second. I get to hunt elk every year but only a week at a time. I would like to spend August to November hunting them if I could. I used to want to hunt sheep, goats, moose and caribou but I stopped putting in for the points on all but Wyoming moose because I am getting close to being able to draw a tag. I didn't even purchase my resident or landowner Iowa deer tags this year.
1.Moose and Sheep
2 MOuntain Lion
3 Elk and Bou
One day I will walk the mountains for elk...one day.

Oh yes off shore! Water buff in Oz, caribou in Quebec, moose in N Ontario, pronghorns in Wyoming and float for moose in Ak. Wow, better get cracking.

Somehow I originally missed this thread.
My dream hunts are:
Bison
Elk
Black Bear
Hog
Alligator
Mountain Lion
Pronghorn-I've been skunked on pronghorns twice and have loved them since I first saw them as a kid-hence the screen name. I've been thinking of another hunt for them but while on stand in October I got to thinking..
I've been wanting to build my own bow for awhile and maybe this summer I'll get around to it. Anyways, I decided that when I go for pronghorn again I'm going with a special selfbow, arrows and quiver made just for that hunt. Hopefully I'll succeed and it will be even more special because of the home made equipment. That for now is my main dream hunt.
Of course if I can fulfill some of the other dream hunts before then that's cool too :)
1) edmonton bow zone for big whitetails
2) alaska moose and Bou
3) back to colorado for elk
4) spot and stalk pronghorns
For me, anything in Alaska would be a dream hunt. The species does not matter. I just want to go and experience the country. If that can not happen then my second is Mountain Lion.
