Title: Shooting tab question
Post by: Mudd on November 16, 2007, 11:07:00 PM
Are all tabs the same or are there some that are better than the others. I'd like to get something that'll help my release. Thanks!
God bless,Mudd

For the last ten years I`ve been shooting a Saunders plastic tab,And I mean the same exact tab,and it just keeps getting better with age. They take a little getting used to because they are stiff but they are very fast on the loose. They are weather proof and it seems they never wear out.I think I`ve shot all the major brands and this works the best for me. And I think Killdeer shoots one as well and says she loves hers as well.

Cavalier Elite! It lasts a long time and will help in being consistant in how you hold the string. Was recommended by experienced archers.

Second the Elite. I use the finger divider only and cut mine down a bit and away from the string.

I once tested (backyard) a regular cowhide, a sharkskin, and a cordovan tab in the same design. The release was very smooth with the cordovan, fair with the cowhide, and not so good with the sharkskin. In fact, at about 20 yards, the arrow would impact 6 inches differently between the sharkskin, and the cordovan. I switched back several times always with the same results.

The cordovan is slicker then sharkskin, but I never  could explain why there was that much difference in where the arrow impacted. That's one of those things that I want to revisit.

Any suggestions on where to look for a variety of tabs for purchase? I've checked out a few of the sites sponors but haven't found much in the way of tabs. Thank you!

I shoot 3 under. I would recommend throwing away the finger spacer and the other metal piece that comes with screws. Just use the tab.
