Title: Carbon Arrow Help
Post by: Fritz on January 27, 2007, 01:50:00 PM
I am in the process of having my Thunderstick longbow reduced in weight for 55# to 50#.  I shot Carbonwood 3000's previously with 225gr. up front.  I am thinking these will be to stiff after dropping 5# of bow weight.  The Carbonwood 2000's seem to be pretty hard to find, now.  I was thinking of switching over to the CX Heritage 150's with the 225 up front. I would obviously bareshaft and cut to length as needed. What do you guys think? Would this put me in the ballfield?  God Bless.

Shoot them and see what happens.
Often when a bow weight is reduced the shooter draws farther and the performance can actualy go up.
Also many times the arrow we shoot is not perfect like we think, so the best thing is shoot them first then make an informed decision.

If your 225gr was achieved with 100 gr. inserts and 125 gr. points and you have to reduce spine, you still have the option of 145gr-250gr.field points. Most weights can be duplicated with 75, 100, and 125gr.steel broadhead inserts and glue-on heads. I haven't heard anybody complaining about too much FOC with carbons.
