I have read most of the post on how well ghilli suits work, my question is which make or style do you prefer and why?
The only one I have experience with is the Rancho Safari Ghille. It is the lightweight long coat. I really like it, man you can almost disappear in any type of terrain. The drawbacks that I have found are that it gets hung up easily in plum thickets or if you have to cross a barb wire fence. I also had to trim a lot of material off of the chest and bow arm so my string would clear. I know they really work. Last year I had a doe so close I thought she was going to take a nibble of my ghille!

I have a string suit I bought at the local Meijer a few weeks back. I believe the brand was bushmaster, the suit is three pieces, but I rarely wear the pants. It really breaks up the outline, and I feel like I blend right in.
Never used a burlap one, but my string suit picks up everything, I mean everything. That and the strings on it tend to clump/ knot together, making it feel like the suits not working, but I bet it would. For this I would recommend a burlap suit, but then again my suit is rather lightweight and did not make me sweat like crazy during the early season (80+ degrees).

I bought one of the Sleeping Indian ones years ago(wool like burlap). Also had to trim around the chest area and the built-in arm guard isn't snug enough to suit my purposes for shooting so I slip on one of those sock type arm guards. Like the others have found it will snag and this one is very warm so I only utilize it in the cooler weather but...it sure does work good. The first time I wore it I was leaning against a dead cedar tree and had a coyote walk up the trail about 15' from me. When I spoke and asked him what he thought he was doing there I swear I saw his butt pucker as he switched ends and left the country post-haste.
Rancho Safari lightweight longcoat here also. You can trim the arm and chest as others have said to where shooting is not a problem, but I beleive that sucker attracts briars. Wouldn't even want to get close to a barbwire fence. Also have a ASAT leafy suit, it also snags on briars, but if I'm going to be moving, I just don't wear the pants. I think (but not sure) the ghilli breaks up the human outline better. My biggest problem has been moving at the wrong time, when you do that, it doesn't matter what you are wearing.

They sell a version for bow hunters, a blanket and a do it yourself kit.I bought the desert/fall it blends in real good around this area.
The Rancho Safari short jacket seems to be all you need. As most mention here they don't use the pants so I'm not sure the long coat is necessary. Most people will be sitting while using theirs so I don't think the leggings are necessary. I can move around in mine without snags as long as it isn't too thick. It is fairly light and cool enough in warm weather if you wear a light shirt underneath. At $59 it's one of the cheapest ways of getting a pre-made one.

I like my leafy suit. Lot less trimming required and it doesn't snag like some. On sale at Basspro earlier in the year for $49 top and bottoms.
Here is a pic of mine before I trimmed it. Not real fancy, but I am beginning to really like it. Had tree rats up close, but not on me. . . yet! The hawk at 10 feet was the best so far. Good for me was the set was a lot less than 1/2 of the Shaggie (but those look real nice too!)
