Shortly after I got into my stand this afternoon I had small bucks chasing does all around the woods. I was hoping to shoot a doe, not wanting to use my last buck tag just yet. Every time a doe came into range she was moving too fast for a shot. I had been standing for a long time and my back was aching and about 15 min. before quitting time nothing was around and I thought I would sit down to rest my back. Of course you know what is going to happen. :knothead: I will be back there in the morning, hopefully the action will continue.
Jack
Pull your pants up, stand up and get back at 'em! Good luck in the morning Jack! Bring us back a pic!
Better luck in the morning. Wish I was there with you just to see the action!.
good luck in the morn. :archer:
That used to be my father inlaws favorite method for getting his deer.
I've been looking at the title of your post for awhile now, was a little :scared: to open it. I guess I thought there might be a pic :scared: :scared:
No picture Kenny, I don't want to ruin my camera. LOL. I am getting ready to head out this morning, if things get slow I will sit down and wait. ;)
Once up in Quantico, I was using my pee bottle when a small herd wandered by. never knew they were there or heard them coming, like smoke-there they were. No shots, had to holster the "gun".
Ok...did I miss something guys?
I know the title included a southernly direction for the dude's britches, but all I got from reading it was that he was sitting when shot opportunities presented themselves???? Is that right?
:) I'm here to tell you that with the bloody arthritis problems hitting me hard the past years, my back won't take long standing. I sit an hour, stand half, then repeat.
I've shot the last 4 deer I got from a sitting position. I use treestands with a minimum of 22" seat height, and I do practice seated shots a LOT out of stands before the season...
Can't do the ones to the "right" as a right-handed shooter, but the ones to the left... or more to the front...no problem.
Just have to practice...like all the good ideas on ground blind shooting in odd positions: Practice. :knothead:
Doc I guess you did miss something. :readit: when all of the "shot opportunities" presented themselves they were to the right and behind me. :(
I like shooting while sitting down and practice it a lot but being right handed like you I can't do those shots to the right or behind me while sitting. :bigsmyl:
I prefer to shoot sitting if possible anyway. i try and place my stands so I can shoot sitting. I have only shot a handful of bucks standing with my bow, it just works for me. shawn
