now that i have a doe in the freezer, and only buck tags left for Mass. I'm huntin for something with bone. after taking care of the doe, the next time I a did a bit of mid season scouting and found a bunch of annual scrapes back in use.
can't hunt on sundays here in the last blue-law state, so a week ago sunday I took my four year old 'hunting' mid day to hang a trail camera over the one of the scrapes. she had a great time and I was excitedly anticipating the week as I had the 7th 8th and 9th off work. hunted hard all week and didn't see a single deer, but the camera continually had hits. so though frustrated, I keeped wondering whats been travelling the trails at night. this past sunday we went back out to swap the film, but of course I forgot the roll. so I pulled the whole camera.
anyway...we dropped it off at the 1 hour place and picked it up on our way to her ice skating lesson. this is what I found on the 2nd pic on the roll!

now...my spirits start to upswing..both at my daughters athletic ability (only her 5th time on skates) and at the bone I'm looking it....
then I hit this pic from later in the week:

same deer using the scrape later in the week. getting excited. now 3 or 4 of does and a fawn, and also a couple other bucks. all at night. so now I'm getting eager to get back on stand....come to find out sunday night, the wifes called to denver on business, I've got the 4 year old to myself until wendesday evening. I CAN'T GO HUNTING TIL THURSDAY!!!!!!
I'm shakin like I got the DTs....what do I do?!?!? :biglaugh:
Be glad you're alive!
Charlie Lamb said a tour of 'Nam cured him of hunting tremors but I'm not sure you want such extreme measures. Hope you get him.
Get your mind on something else like a wood combo for another new bow. Works for me when I get jittery!
best cure is hunt an area where there are no racked bucks :biglaugh:
drink a little shine. that will do it :biglaugh:
thanks guys...made me chuckle...just enjoying daddy time so far :)
That's a nice buck. Don't look at the horns! Jawge
I wouldn't get to concerned. Unless you have some daylight pics of him the chances are unless you hunt by flashlight he won't be giving you the tremors this season.
Was that a wet enough blanket to calm them down for you? :biglaugh:
thanks david....yah that pretty much did it :(
Always here to help. ;)
Going to see you at Jeremy's in January?
hope so! I was gonna head down there last week but got a little messed up schedule wise.
Kinda what Larry said...You can come down here in Deeeeeeep East Texas and hunt with me. No jitters here. I've only seen one deer on my property in about 20 sittings this season. I've got 75 acres which joins the Angelina Nat'l Forest with no immediate pressure (due to Hurricane Rita 2 years ago). There are so many acorns on the ground now and the temps have been in the high 70's and low 80's for the past 2 weeks.
Good huntin'!
Ask your doctor if Atenolol is right for you?
Good Luck!
