Title: I need help.
Post by: xia_emperor on July 15, 2007, 03:28:00 PM
I seem to have a problem coming to full draw. I think I am at full draw but every time I check my Video I am off an inch or more at times (sometimes I get to full draw). Also I try to hold my anchor, but it always seems that right when I get there I release. I feel like I held a while but from my video and what others say I am not holding at all. To make things worse everything thing seems to double go wrong when I am at 3D Tournaments.  I am not sure what to do, how I stop freaking out when the pressure is on. when I am just pulling my bow back for practice, and not shooting, I get to anchor every time. It just when it is time for me to shoot.

Spend $12 and buy a clicker. I had a similiar problem and it cured it for me. This might be Target Panic. I've not had it (yet) but I hear this new "Push Technique" is miraculous. I caution you though, don't under estimate the clicker. It works really well. GOODLUCK, DAVE

Get a low-poundage bow and practice form with it. Concentrate on your anchor, especially, since that is what is giving you the most trouble. Once you have your form nailed down again, your anchor problem should at the least be minimized.

When things come "naturally", they are usually mostly automatic -- and muscle memory helps things to come naturally.

Yes the push helps a lot when I'm under some preasure,, I draw anchor and push the bow to the target and letting the extra preasure release my hand for me,,Because its new for me I forget sometimes,, it helps if I have a target that I mentally am having an issue with ,,say,, a black bear that has no back drop to it and if you miss your arrow is about 50 yards down the ridge,,focus on my spot ,hit my anchor and push ,,helps on this target,, I'm by no means the best shot on the planet,,just giving some advise I took from a very great shot,,JB

OH I wanted to add,,this one time at the range,,I was shooting by myself,,shooting fair that day, I caught up with a group of really nice folks,,there was a fella in the group shooting a long bow,, I asked if I could tag along,,, well I went from fair to not even hitting a target,,granted,,first time I ever had that bow out and yes the string was brand new but I totally fell apart,,really felt bad,, I sold the bow,,LOL,, but now I'm shooting real well within 20 yards and feel very comfortable to effective at that yardage for game,,JB
