Thought it would be interesting to see some picks of where everyone hunts.
I'm fascinated by the nasty places where nobody else will go. The monster briar patch, the mountainside covered in impenetrable laurel. The places the big boys hide and will even use in daylight. Plus since I hunt public land most of the time, I like places so hard to hunt most guys don't bother.
Heres one that was taken from my tree stand on Friday morning. Shortly before there was a doe being chased by 4 bucks out in the area of sunlight by the far treeline. This is the only direction in which I have a real view. Over my left shoulder is a real nasty huge thicket.

1.2 miles from my truck. View from my treestand. Long, dark, cold, walk before dawn planned for tomorrow. Saw a BIG, FAT, doe being chased through there a few days ago. Scrapes have been freshened-23 degrees at 5AM tomorrow! Been in worse! Oh, yeah, the leaves have been turning and falling. :D

JBiorn, thats what i was thinking about your spot. Looks great.
tomh----your welcome to my spot anytime. PM me, maybe a coyote hunt is in our future down there.
Jbjorn, you still have that much cover this late in the season?
Out back of my house in the summer time I could have a herd of elephants and nobody would know, but this time of year I can spot a field mouse running through there. lol
I do---its going away pretty quick though. We were blessed with a mild fall. I just took those pics two days ago.

We had a mild fall here too, but a bad drought this summer(haven't seen so much brown grass since I left TX), so it seems to have worked out about the same .
Auzoutdoor, nice pics! I'd love to get "down" there someday, it's the only continent I haven't been to apart from Antarctica.

I call this place Pond Spring, and have seen whole herds of elk splashing and playing in it. But since the wildfires of 2002 and ensuing drought, it's become a mudhole ... and super wallow. This Sept., while sitting behind the little brush "blind" in the foreground, I watched a 5x5 bull wall for 20 minutes, never more than 14 yards away. If you've seen an elk bull wallow, you understand why I didn't shoot him! Dave

A bit of Sika Deer hunting on Maryland's eastern shore. Thick phragmites, marshes, poison ivy and mrytle bushes make for some first class sika deer hunting! And they like it THICK.
They bed in the phrag seed on the left of this photo. 12-15' high mess of impenatrable grass.
They move through the mrytle. Poison ivy has claimed many a good stand location!
They'll also bed in the marsh which makes for some prime viewing opportunities.

The view after a long hike. A few hundred yards from where I took this picture I was having a conversation with a bull late one morning. For some reason I took a quick look behind me and a nearly white wolf was sitting across a small draw looking at me. Thrill of the day.
This is an elk trail through the alders, but it's a lot steeper than it looks. Last year I had a running skirmish along this trail with a nice bull, but 200 yards from where I took this picture another bull joined in and he made a small tactical mistake and the season was over.
Every few years I visit this spot on a finger ridge not far from the Montana border. The quakie is dead now, but back in 1993 it was very much alive.
Along about 1993 I decided to switch to a longbow after about 12 years with a recurve. One morning I got onto a bull with some cows, but he was a runner. In those days, not many people interfered in day to day elk hunting, so I just tagged along behind him. At seven that evening he came over to see who was pestering him all day, and I shot him. The arrow was a doug fir with a wolverine. Hit him in front of the shoulder as he walked and he dropped in his hoof prints, with his one and a half antlers around this tree. I left the arrow against the tree, but couldn't find it five years later. First big game with a longbow.
How ironic, here I start a post asking to see pictures of your hunting places and I'm sitting here with dial up service and I can't see most of the pictures.
The few I've had the time to wait on look awsome but I've probably only seen a tenth of those posted. :banghead: :biglaugh:

Wow, those pics are great...the older I get the more convinced I become that man cannot begin to compete with what God "designs" and "builds".
For instance:
I used to hunt on the farm next to the one I grew up on since I was a yound lad. Had some great memories of some beautiful deer that I have captured on film too (especially from sitting on top of that barn roof every fall before the season started...also used to shoot groundhogs with a recurve that came out onto the pasture 80 yards out from that back upper window :) ).
Can't hunt next door any longer - there's forty 2.5 million dollar monster houses. What an ugly sight! (Sorry for the poor quality pic...cell phone).
Now the farm that flanks the other side is for sale...more monster homes and less natural beauty!
This place is less than a mile from downtown Florence Al. It is 7 Mile Island Mgt Area and only open for bow hunting deer from Dec 26-Jan 31. Have been doing a bunch of scouting this week and found some great hunting places.
There are 4600 acres on the area with about 500 acres of crop land down the middle. This year it was planted in corn. Looks like they pick 10 rows and leave 4.the ground is littered with ears of corn, thousands of bushels.
A tornado went through my favorite part about 4 years ago. This let sunlight in and the privet went wild. Some of the area is very hard to get around in.
Before the tornado the banks of the sloughs were lined with giant oaks like this one the tornado missed.
There is still plenty of undamaged woods but one has to cut through the privet to get anywhere. I was following a nice trail along the banks of the Tennessee river.
I ran into another common obstacle, a cane thicket.
The place is loaded with hogs, there sign is everywhere but they are very hard to find. I found this wallow, trails leading in every direction.
This is where the hogs hide during the day, the heart of the tornado damage.
In spite of the hard access it is still a magical place. Loaded with deer, hogs and a mix of corn fields, big oaks and cypress swamps.
