I'm going to let Chuck give the details of this mornings hunt. Chuck called me from the woods looking for a butcher. So, he came over and we just got back from delivering his deer to my butcher. Here are a few pics, I leave the story up to the Woodchucker....

Mark
Cool but what happened to his tail? LOL
I'm getting ready to head out for an evening sit...Chuck decided to use the Bear Grizzly he won at the Joan Leonard Memorial Bunny Hunt...
The arrows...Chuck's good friend and neighbor passed away earlier this year and the wife gave Chuck these Autumn Orange arrows. Chuck cleaned them up and asked if I would, for the last time, crown dip and fletch them with colors I use. So, he got himself some bright, visible arrows.
A nice combo...a winning raffle bow and a good friends arrows. Congrats again Chuck. :notworthy:
By the way....Chuck said it was easier hitting this deer than those black squirrels in Ken's Adirondack hunting spot.....
Congrats!
Congratulations!!!

Nice Deer
OOOHHHHH BOY!!!!! WOW What A Day!!!!!
I'd like to thank everyone for your wonderful congratulatory comments!!!!! :scared: Well his head snaps to his left side and he drops like a rock right in his tracks!!!!! HOLY COW!!!!!
I watch the spike for a few minutes wondering just how hard he was hit.....every few minutes he would thrash alittle and then be still. I was starting to doubt my shot and when he kicked the arrow out with his hind leg I new I needed to put another arrow into him. I didn't want to chance spooking him by walking down to him so I took a second shot from my blind.....AND I HIT HIM HIGH IN THE NECK AGAIN!!!!! GEEZ!!!!! :banghead: (Probly the addrenalin, excitement,NERVES,etc)
Right then I decided to do what I should have done in the first place,I snuck down and put an arrow through the spike buck's boiler-room. It was over in seconds.
I poured some tobacco from the buckskin pouch that was given to me by My Brother,"adkmountainken" and made an offering to the Great Spirit, then I Thanked the Spirit of the Spike Buck for giving his body to me.
Well Gang.....That's "The Story".....Hope it was worth the wait!!!!!

Great buck....sounds like a great hunt all together!
And the tail?
Actualy the tail is there,It's just all full of burdocks like the buck Guru video taped in Kansas, and it's kinda tucked under his hip.

Actualy Jim.....I've been thinking about a "snow dance" for the late season.....
(I've got a Nat-Gear snow camo outfit that has never been worn.....)
Welll worth the wait Chuck! Glad to have been a part of it Bro. Congrats Again!
Oh man, I came back here to check out the pics again, and I looked directly at those feathers. I'm bliiiiind!!! :bigsmyl:
See Chris!!!!! The bright fletching DOES work!!!!!
By blinding the deer, they can't see where they're going and run away from you!!!!!
(BTW, Bright fletching works just as good with domestic birds/animals)
Congrats!!

Awesome Chuck!! Glad to see one of us is making meat. If you still want to put in a day on the west side of the river, let me know.
Again, congrats!
WOW!!!!! This Has Been AWESOME!!!!! Thank You ALL for your WONDERFULL comments!!!!! :notworthy:
It has been a LONG time, since I have shot a deer with a bow.I shot 3 does with my old Bear Alaskan recurve (1-1977,1-1980,1-1981) I never shot a deer with a compound, and I gave up bowhunting for a while before getting back into "traditional" bowhunting in 1998.(Hmmmmm,Didn't I start out doing it this way????? LOL)
This spike buck is actualy the FIRST buck that I have ever shot with a bow!!!!! To say that I am HAPPY would be a HUGE understatment!!!!! I'm VERY proud of my little buck, and I couldn't be prouder if he was a P&Y 10 pointer!!!!!
His little spike antlered rack will hang in a place of honor among the rest of my deer antlers. Because.....On Sunday morning,11/11/07,at 8:15am.....He was the "Finest Buck In The Forest".
and forever,in my memory,he always will be!!!!!
