I have a Bear Super Kodiak 50 lb @ 28" RH. I draw a true 28" and my arrows are usually between 29-29 1/2". Mostly shoot woodies, but want to know what most guys/gals are shooting in aluminum. I use a 125 gr head and 3 5" feathers. I am having trouble with arrow charts and bare shaft tuning. Thanks, Scott

2016

Second a 2016. I've since switched to easton axis 500. A little more money but way tougher.
-
2016 again, I believe that settles it!
-
I shoot in the low 50's and use either 2114 or 2016, both shoot well.
-
2016 here also
-
There ya go!

Did anybody post 2016s?...Well...2016... :) ...

2016, the 2114 would fly real good too, but the are not as tough a shaft. That said shoot carbon, ya can shoot a carbonwood 2000 with 200 up front an dit will fly awesome. Shawn

I guess I might try a 2016 then..lol....I have tried 2114 and thought they flew ok, but was not satisfied. I may try the carbon route too. Also, nock point right = too weak of shaft, and nock point left = too stiff, correct..??? Thanks everyone, Scott

I shoot a Palmer 51# @ 28" and like the 2018's better than the 2016 shafts. Kock right for me means too stiff a shaft. I shoot 4x4" feathers but intend to experiment with 4x3" or 4x31/2" this spring. I found that under hunting conditions (ie, not always great release or some other not perfect setup that the 2018's were more fogiving and consistent. I shot the same shafts out of my BW which was 56#. I like a heavier more forgiving shaft over a few fps speed. Might not work for you.

2018 @ 29" little heavier than the 2016
-
All my bows are around 50#@28" and I draw about 27 1/2". I shoot 2016, 2114, 2115, and 2213 cut to 28 1/2" long with 125gr. field points and three 5" left wing helical feathers. They all shoot well with about the same results.
-
I had better results with 1916 and 145 grain heads. 53@ 28 cut to 29". I shoot gt35/55 and have the best results of all.

I went to 35-55's after the change from 2016's the 2018's will work But keep them full length, Cutting them will stiffen them up pretty good and will require a heavier head that wont work as well as the longer shaft.

Could you please explain why it wont work as well ?
I have used up to 300 grains up front to soften a spine and they flew very well .

I like the 2018's

All of my bows are right around 50# or so. Some bows shoot "harder" then others and will require a bit more arrow spine. My 65 Kodiak will shoot 2016's well but my Thermal TD and Border TD require at least a 2018 to get good flight.
I also went to gold tip 35/55's carbon's and they fly well out of all of my bows. One dozen of GT's have lasted me going on 3 years now. They are tough as nails!

I shoot both 2016 and 2018 from my 50pd bows. One bow likes the 2016 and the other loves the 2018..
-
I use a 30"GT3555 with 70gr weight insert and a 200gr stos or grizzly for my 50-53#bows at my 29" draw. Great pass throughs and speed at 9gr per inch. I use 2413 eastons for turkey hunting with 3&4 blades so they DON'T pass though!
-
I prefer the 2018's, they are heavier but still fly nice.
-
I use 2013's they are a little light in weight but they shoot good for me and I like them.50# recurve. My 2 cents

I shoot a 50# @ 28, but my draw is 31" so I'm drawing about 56#? I use a 2216 xx75 gamegetter II with a 150 grain BH . Arrow flight is great, and slams 'em home. I also shoot a 45# (with my draw 51#) and use the same arrow set up. Works just as good.
-
50-53# bows, 28" draw. Favorite aluminum = 2115, followed by 2018. Same spine but the 2115 is a bit lighter.
-
With those long arms I would go with the 2018. If your draw was 1.5-2" shorter then 2016.
