OK, I got a string for my bow. The one I took off measured 51" the bow is 56"AMO. The brace height was 7 3/4". With the new string and no twists the brace height is 8 1/2". This is one of the $5.99 strings from 3-Rivers. Will it stretch enough to get me back to a 7 3/4 brace height? Would I be better off getting a 52" string and adding the required twists to reach the desired brace height? That you for your help and patience!

My thought is that although the string will stretch some, itβs not going to stretch that much. I usually get about 3/8" brace height stretch. I would order a longer string and twist it up some. The longer string will give more adjustment latitude, both lower and higher brace height for better tuning. With a 56β AMO bow (I'm assuming recurve at that length), the accepted string length would be 4β shorter, 52β

If its a dacron string it may creep enough to give you a 7 3/4" brace height. Leave it on the bow after shooting it. I made one that was perfect brace height but after shooting it and leaving it on the bow for a couple days the brace height was 5/8" low.

I'd be real surprised if stretched 3/4",in fact,I'd be willing to bet it won't.I agree with Lonewolf that generally speaking,4" under AMO bow length for most recurves will get you in the ballpark.Sent you a PM.
