Title: Bear Magnum arrows
Post by: Earl E. Nov...mber on November 09, 2007, 09:03:00 PM
Anyone remember them? The ones marked .308, .312 .316 etc?
I just met a guy who claims to have "A Bunch" of unused shafts. If I remember right they were an Easton Shaft(XX78) made for Bear. ID was the same on all of them, but the OD varied to get spine variation..
I don't know how many "A Bunch" is and I don't know how much he wants for them, but I might end up with them, Just wonder if they would be worth $3.00 a piece or not?
I guess I am testing the waters before I commit to buying more than I can shoot.

Yup!!!!! I remember them!!!!!

The old Bear Magnums and Metric Magnums.....

I hunted with them alot when I was a teenager.....I used an old 50# Bear Alaskan with a Bear "weather-rest" shooting Magnums and Metric Magnums fletched with plastic vanes and tipped with screw-in green Bear Razorheads and stuffed in a backquiver.

Boy does that bring back memories.....   :archer:

Thanks My Friend!!!!!

(I think they would be worth $5 a piece just for "sentimental" reasons)

I think the were X-7's not XX78's. They were small diameter and very heavy. I sure do wish they were still made.

They were X-7 shafts, the XX78 is relatively new.
The X-7 was the top of the line for Easton at the time.  The Bear "Metric Magnum" was relatively expensive back then....and as I remember was nearly $35.00 for 8 of them.  Figure that out in today's money.  I could never afford them on my wage 8^).

They also made "Metric Hunters" which were made of softer material than the X-7  so know what you are buying .  The Hunters were made of the 24SRT-X alloy and not as strong as the X-7 so they didn't command the higher price of the Magnums.   Both are good arrows.

I used to use the Bear Magnum's all the time. At the time, I bought them from the pro shop that was in the Fred Bear museum in Grayling Mi. for $3.00 a piece. I still have one of them, wish I had more. WOW, that was a while ago. Time flys when your having fun.  :archer:

Great arrows. I have most of a dozen .316's left, and they intershange pretty well with 2018's.
